Fallout and Assassin’s Creed Coming to Magic the Gathering in 2024

If you’re a fan Fallout or you really love Assassin’s Creed, you might be happy to hear that both of these franchises will be showcased in upcoming Magic the Gathering sets, to be released later this year. Wizards of the Coast has been really expanding their incorporation of Universes Beyond, and these two are the latest in a slew to be added, which include Dungeons & Dragons, Doctor Who, and over course Lord of the Rings.

Fallout Secret Lair and Assassin’s Creed MTG Set

A few universes based on video games have been added to MTG in the recent past including: Street Fighter, Fortnite, and Tomb Raider, but these have all been Secret Lair drops that included a very limited number of cards. Fallout will be one of these, incorporated into MTG on March 8th, 2024, but Assassin’s Creed will become the first ever full fledged Set based off a video game on July 5th, 2024.

More video games will of course be coming to Magic the Gathering as well, with the iconic Final Fantasy coming some time in 2025, and likely even more franchises beyond that, as Wizards of the Coast tries to lure even more consumers to purchase their products.

What is the Future of MTG?

With more and more universes added to MTG each year, and half the sets releasing in 2024 being based off different universes, players must be wondering what the future holds for the most popular card game in the world. Will WotC drop the universe of Magic the Gathering all together, choosing to focus on others that are clearly lucrative. Or will they continue with a mix of the two?

It’s really hard to tell, but one thing is for sure. If WotC can make more money off Universes Beyond they will more than likely drop everything that once made Magic the Gathering so great in a heartbeat in the pursuit of it.

There has been a lot of push back, with long time players protesting not only the frequency of new cards being added, but also the ever increasing prices of MTG products, but despite these things WotC seems to be pushing forward, selling Universes Beyond with record numbers. Will the market become oversaturated or will it continue at breakneck pace?
