Diablo 4 Druid Build Guide – Stormwolf: In this Diablo 4 Beginner Druid Build Guide, I’ll show you how to play a Stormwolf Druid, which puts together Werewolf and Lightning Skills.  If you’ve been looking for a Diablo 4 Beginner Druid Build that is aimed at World Tiers 1 & 2, and one that’s probably the best all-around Leveling Build that will get you up to the endgame even if you don’t have very good gear to start with, then this Diablo 4 Build Guide is for you!

Diablo 4 Druid Build – Stormwolf

The general strategy with this efficient Diablo IV Beginner Build involves alternating between Storm Strike and Lightning Storm while activating Blood Howl every now and then to keep up your Spirit high enough. You won’t encounter resource issues as much compared to using a Werewolf Diablo 4 Druid Build, for example. Here, you can go back and forth when it comes to transforming into a Werewolf and then becoming a human again to keep casting powerful Skills in no time.

Druid Immobilizing Enemies and Dealing Lightning Storm

A great passive for this Stormwolf D4 Druid Build is Bad Omen, which you should max out as soon as you get enough points. This makes it so that when you Lucky Hit up to a 30% chance when you deal damage to a Vulnerable, Immobilized, or Stunned enemy that a lightning bolt deals extra damage for 55% of your Weapon damage. You’re dealing damage to Vulnerable enemies constantly because of Storm Strike or Immobilized because of Poison Creeper, so this is a decent way to get out extra damage early on in the game.

Next is the Perfect Storm Key Passive, which will also increase your damage against Immobilized and Slowed enemies. So Immobilize is really your best friend as a Lightning Druid trying to get as much damage as possible, and if not that, then at least there’s Slowed in order to get the benefit from a Staff and from the Key Passive as well.

When it comes to Legendary Aspects, you should be on the lookout for the Aspect of Inner Calm, which increases your damage by up to 10% per second for each second you stand still by up to 30%. So every second it would add up to 10% should you get the max roll. You can acquire this as a random drop or via the Codex of Power by doing the Raethwind Wilds Dungeon in Scosglen. Aspect of the Inner Calm is important because you tend to stand still a lot while you’re casting Lightning Storm.

Diablo 4 Stormwolf Beginner Druid Build Guide – Skill Distribution

Each Diablo 4 Druid Build is made up of the 6 Active Skills they have equipped and changing these Skills can drastically alter the way the Druid Class in Diablo IV plays. In this section, we’ll take a look at what Skills you should slot for the Stormwolf Diablo 4 Build. Your Skill distribution should look something like this as you go beyond Level 25:

LEVEL 25+ DRUID SKILLS
SkillPoints Spent
 Storm Strike 1
 Enhanced Storm Strike 1
 Fierce Storm Strike 1
 Lightning Storm 5
 Enhanced Lightning Storm 1
 Primal Lightning Storm 1
 Blood Howl 1
 Enhanced Blood Howl 1
 Innate Blood Howl 1
Poison Creeper 3 (+2 from Gear)
 Enhanced Poison Creeper 1

Defiance 3

The above list gives you the general order to invest in Skills, but keep in mind that you should prioritize picking up new Active Skills over investing in passives, so pick up passives later if you can get new Active Skills when you level up.

Diablo 4 Stormwolf Beginner Druid Build Guide – How to Handle Packs of Enemies

So there are really several different strategies to employ in this Diablo IV Build for the Stormwolf Druid, and these change depending on whether or not you’re facing a large group of enemies or a Boss. Let’s start with a group of enemies first, and we’ll cover how to handle Bosses in the next section.

Storm Strike

Storm Strike is your Melee Skill that’s really good for Spirit generation. It has a decent Lucky Hit Chance, allowing you to attack multiple enemies in front of you. Storm Strike also gives you damage reduction for 3 seconds, thereby keeping you alive and tanky. With the Fierce Storm Strike upgrade, you inflict increased damage to enemies.

Lightning Storm & Passives

Next, we have Lightning Storm, which is our Core Skill for this Druid Diablo 4 Build. This works as a channel so if you hold it down, more and more lightning bolts will come out, and if you do not cast this Skill after about 4 seconds or so, it will go back down to 1 lightning bolt. Basically, the longer you hold it down, the more lightning bolts are going to come out, which is capped at 5, so you want to invest all 5 points into this to make it very potent.

Lightning Storm Skill with Lightning Bolts

Remember to take the Primal Lightning Storm upgrade because for Lightning Storm to give you an 8% chance to Immobilize enemies. Once you have 4 or 5 bolts out, which tends to be every other cast or every cast, you’ll Immobilize something, and as a Druid, you get a lot of extra damage against Immobilize targets. Additionally, you’ll want to equip the Staff because by default, it has the Damage to Crowd Controlled Enemies Bonus, and Immobilized is considered crowd control.

You also have the Electric Shock and Bad Omen passives that will boost your damage against them. Eventually, at higher levels, Electric Shock will also be maxed out to further enhance your damage.

Poison Creeper

This brings us to our next Skill called Poison Creeper. It’s a large AoE that roots enemies in place while Immobilizing them so you’re going to get the extra damage because of the passives I have mentioned. They’re going to take Poison damage over time (DoT) to soften them up while you cast Lightning Storm on them.

Diablo IV Druid Build for the Stormwolf - Brutal Poison Creeper

You’ll then want to gain access to the Brutal Poison Creeper upgrade to increase your Critical Strike Chance against rooted enemies by 20%. This is a huge amount of crit chance you’re going to get on top of all the other Critical Strikes you have.

And this synergizes extremely nicely with the Envenom passive, which increases your Critical Strike Damage to enemies that are Poisoned. Once you max it out, you’ll deal an extra 30% damage when you critically strike against them.

Rabies & Neurotoxin

Rabies is going to set Poison on a bunch of enemies in front of you in a small cone. Be careful though, because it can easily miss them if you don’t position it correctly, and sometimes it’ll just miss anyway. But once executed properly, you’ll deal substantial Poison Damage as it’s going to transfer from one target to the next, which is why you’ll want to max out this Skill.

What I really like to do with Rabies is to put it on an enemy and then start dragging them with me to a bunch of other targets. Rabies jump from target to target, especially since we have the Natural Rabies upgrade that makes it transfer more quickly. If you take Savage Rabies, it’s going to be harder to drag enemies, so you actually want it to last longer if possible. Afterward, you’ll be free to use Poison Creeper. Remember to route them in place, and then go to town with your Lightning Storm.

Stormwolf Build - Rabies to Inflict Poison

A good passive to pick up because you’re using Rabies and Poison Creeper is Neurotoxin. This makes it so that when you Poison enemies they become Slowed. Since Slowed enemies are considered crowd control, then your Staff and the Perfect Storm Key Passive will provide you with notable extra damage against them.

Blood Howl

Your Defensive Skill for this D4 Druid Build is Blood Howl, and I like this because it can heal you and it comes off cooldown quickly upon killing enemies. So the more of them you destroy, the faster you’re going to be able to heal. With the Innate Blood Howl modifier, you gain 20 Spirit. Druids are extremely resource-hungry at the beginning of the game and Blood Howl is a way to help them get more Spirit, particularly when you’re running around in a Dungeon and you’re looking for enemies or you’re backtracking.

One good Legendary Aspect you should be on the lookout for is the Nighthowler’s Aspect. This increases the Critical Strike Chance of your, your companions, and any players nearby for 3 seconds up to 10%. Imprinting this on an Amulet will boost the chance to 15% whereas putting it on a Two-Handed Weapon like a Staff would make it 20%! That is a huge amount, particularly since you tend to reduce the cooldown of Blood Howl by killing things rapidly, especially if you have a high crit chance. So this allows you to keep fueling more Blood Howls, and more Spirit equals more Critical Strike Chance, funneling it all really well.

Diablo 4 Nighthowler's Aspect to Increase the Critical Strike Chance of Blood Howl

If you’re not lucky enough to get the Nighthowler’s Aspect from a drop, you can obtain it by completing the Forbidden City Dungeon in Fractured Peaks even though it’s a little bit less effective than the max role.

Boss Fights

Boss fights are handled quite similarly in this Diablo 4 Stormwolf Druid Build, but there are some key differences. First, you want to alternate between Lightning Storm and Storm Strike in order to set that Vulnerable effect. And then second, you’ll be popping in your Cataclysm Ultimate Skill because of how powerful it is. I’ll discuss this more in the next section.

Cataclysm

Cataclysm puts tornadoes and lightning bolts all over the map to deal huge damage. It’s amazing for room clearing and is considered one of the best Ultimates in the game. However, Cataclysm has an extremely long cooldown. But anytime you find yourself in a sticky situation such as when facing a Boss, you want to be popping this before you go to town.

Aspect of the Protector

A Defensive Legendary Aspect I highly recommend getting is the Aspect of the Protector by finishing the Lost Archives Dungeon in Fractured Peaks, which is easy to find since it’s just located to the South of Kyovashad. This gives you a damage shield or Barrier anytime you fight an Elite or Boss, thereby improving your survivability.

Spirit Boons

For Spirit Boons, you’ll first go with Wariness from the Stag. This reduces the damage you take from Elites by 10%, which is a huge amount.

Next, I bonded with the Eagle in order to get Scythe Talons and Avian Wrath. Not only do you boost your Critical Strike Chance by 5% but you also improve your Critical Strike Damage by 30%. You can tell we have a theme here involving Critical Strike Damage coming from Brutal Poison Creeper, the Nighthowler’s Aspect, and the Envenom passive.

Druid Spirit Boons - Scythe Talons to Increase Critical Strike Chance

On the Wolf, I have Energize. This makes it so that if you Lucky Hit anytime you deal damage, you have a 15% chance to restore 10 Spirit. And lastly, there’s the Snake where I have Overload. This makes it so that when you Lucky Hit, you have a 20% chance to cause the target to emit Lightning Damage to surrounding enemies, helping with your AoE damage a little bit.

Final Tips

For this Diablo 4 Stormwolf Druid Build, you should be on the lookout for gear that gives bonuses to Dexterity, Strength, Maximum Spirt, Spirit Cost Reduction, Ranks of Poison Creeper and Rabies, Poison Damage, Damage Reduction from Close Enemies, Critical Strike Chance, Lucky Hit Chance, Movement Speed, Core Skill Damage, Lightning Damage, and Vulnerable Damage Bonus

Another good aspect for this Diablo IV Druid Build is the Aspect of the Umbral. This lets you restore a portion of your Spirit whenever you crowd-control an enemy. It’s hard to find early on but you can acquire it by completing the Champions Demise Dungeon in Dry Steppes. This will make leveling up a lot faster since you’ll address some of the Spirit issues you have.

In terms of the passives, the others you’d like to focus on are Defiance, Circle of Life, and Clarity. Defiance lets you deal 12% increased damage to Elites, meaning that Lightning Storm and Storm Strike are going to deal more damage. Next is the Circle of Life that allows you to restore some HP based on your Maximum Life when you cast a Nature Magic Skill, which in this case is Lightning Storm. This is great for keeping your health topped off in long fights where you’re attacking lots of enemies.

D4 Druid Build - Defiance to Increase the Damage of Nature Magic Skills Against Elites

And lastly, there’s Clarity. This makes it so that if you transform into a Werewolf to use Blood Howl and then back, you’re going to gain 6 Spirit. You’ll just naturally change after a couple of seconds or if you use Rabies and then change back, you gain additional resources.

So that wraps up our early game leveling Stormwolf Diablo IV Druid Build. I imagine this will look a lot different at Level 50+ so I’ll have an updated version of that.
