Rumor: Data Miner Claims Dark Souls 3 DLC 2 Name Revealed

According to YouTube creator Sanadsk, some datamining of Dark Souls 3‘s files has revealed the potential name of the game’s second and final DLC.

Taking a look through the game’s files, he came across a line labeled: DLC2_MIYAKONOMOUJA. Miyako no Mouja is Japanese and translates to City of the Dead or Dead Capital. Without the kanji it’s tough to be completely certain because as many kanji share the same sounds, you can say something that sounds one way but infers another through the symbols. This is a start however and should allow for enough speculation.

If it is City of the Dead or a variation along that theme, it’s possible we are going to be making a visit to Londor, which some have speculated and hoped for. This make sense given the characters in the game connected to the land such as Yuria, Elfriede, and Yoel and how prominently they feature in the game’s story. Perhaps we’ll be seeing some dark themed weapons, armor and spells to compliment our builds.

Ashes of Ariandel was the most recent DLC to release, all the way back in October and we’re anxiously awaiting confirmation of when this second one will drop. We’ll be sure to report as soon as it’s announced. As always, keep checking in with us for updates and news on Dark Souls 3 and more!

  1. I don’t want another “new” area that has nothing do to with anything, for the love of god please answer some question from the base game FROM, the whole “Gundyr/Ludleth/Dark Keeper/failuretolightthefire” issue being the first on my list :D

Is that really necessary, though? We can all kind of guess what’s coming: Gothic architecture, weaponry design based off their sinister religion, dark magic all up in the whatsit, recurring Cainhurst and Darkwraith elements, astonishingly sharp fashion sense, gnarly Abyss monsters… Actually, I’m kind of impressed at how loud and clear Londor’s themes read through the rest of the game despite so few references and not even being in the actual game.

    beyond repair no

a simple improvement in speed would make the deep souls spell very useful

a simple improvement in tracking would make any soul arrow spell very useful

the only thing preventing them from doing it its the fear of the wining casuals who cant dodge anything

I’m cool with waiting for the final drop, but give us some screen shots, something tangible to start a direct line of speculation. We’ve all been throwing ideas out since before AoA, then AoA dropped and gave us even more to speculate. Now the code crawler found the DLC2 title implying what most of us want and have guessed at ever since we saw the Hollow/Usurper ending, the ending which seems to be most profound and open ended. It would appear we are destine to “make Londor whole…”

But give us the hype reel so i can “shake — rattle — roll!”

  5. Honestly I think Hexes are just Fubared in DKS III no matter what they release. They require too much stat investment for what they give you, and looking at the offerings of the first DLC for everyone else (Which, while the spells were a lot better than anyone thought at first, still aren’t exactly great) I don’t see us getting show-stopping hexes.

  6. >

one side of me really hopes they bring out some good hexes and for that i will wait all the time in the world other side of me fears the dlc will be crap and have horrible or no hexes at all in which case they might as well just release the teaser already

Personally, I’d rather they take their time and polish that sucker to a mirror sheen. If this is supposed to be the final chapter of Dark Souls, I hope they do it justice. No regrets.

  8. For the love of Gwyn, can they just drop the first teaser already! They’ve been made, the cat’s out of the bag, you been got FROM…now give us what we want! The boards need it…they’re currently the equivalent of a weather conversation with a stranger on the elevator.

  9. I haven’t even gone through Ashes of Ariandel yet, just on my second play through to get it done!

If I’m not mistaken, he wasn’t the president when development of Dark Souls 3 began. But I think he also didn’t really start Dark Souls 3, and only came into it after Bloodborne was done.

I agree with this except for one thing.
Miyazaki is the president of From Software, so I doubt there was much pressure. Reluctance maybe. But it’s not like anyone made him do anything.

  12. I’ve been thinking about the whole theme of Dark Souls 3. It centres around the ‘decay’ of every thing, every process of nature that goes on in the game and has been going on since DKS 1.
It gives us a huge hint that Miyazaki himself didn’t want to do this game, but was pressured by From Software to make it, owing to fan’s obssession with DKS 1, 2 and what not.
Everybody was already expecting a Dark Souls 3 to follow up to DKS 1 by early-mid 2015.

So my expectation from this DLC won’t be much, it’ll just be a wrap-up to the previous DLC’s story and will give us another hint or two about what the Dark/Deep is, and how it is involved in the decay of natural processes. It will most likely feel like Miyazaki just wanted to be done with this damn game and then get working on his current interest.

The whole ‘flame is dying out’ thing is from software trying to tell us that their own interest in this series is dying out/dead.

It might also tell us why there are so many hollows in one particular place ( Londor I guess, going by the ‘city of the dead’ thing).

    Fex dlc sounds perfect.
‘Felines of the First Flame’ is worth buying on premise alone.

  14. The first DLC was clearly them writing a digital love letter to me. Let’s see:

-Absurd amount of krow enemies? Check
-Numerous instances of these krows being “skared?” Also check
-Signature weapon 1 is krow based? Check
-Signature weapon 2 is based off the great scythe, my signature weapon? Check
-Entire DLC in winter area, with me being the self proclaimed Lord of Winter? Check
-Heavy Norse mythology influence right after my rune deciphering project? Check

It’s pretty obvious they’re stalking me and making content based off of my life and teachings.

So then the next DLC will be based off another community member. All we have to do is figure out who that is and we should be able to make some logical assumptions.

If it’s a Cas based DLC we should expect a lot of enemies hiding under desks and in lockers for instance. A Fex DLC would be full of cats and mobs being whipped by other mobs. And so forth…

  15. Please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc
    please be a londor dlc

Also hoping we get to see a toothy serpent again. Miss them.

  16. i remember that in some of the japanese gameplays before ds3 launch someone refered to the undead as mouja so undead capital wouldn’t be a horrible translation either

  17. Whether the dlc is new londo something with the abyss, dragons or what ever; I hope it has a really really hard optional boss fight.

Lord knows it wouldn’t be the main boss fight but I’m really hoping for a boss that makes me tear my hair out and I can’t simply out level only get gud.

  18. Oh shoot if we are going to New londo the entrance might be in the Firelink area because in Dark souls 1 you went down that elevator then boom you are there. I would think the entrance would be in Dark Firelink where you can see the ground below in Champion Gundye’s boss room.

  19. I actually speculated in my own head that the third dlc might take place in Londor which might be the future New Londo

Same; I kept attacking bonfires my first playthrough hoping I’d catch one. Made me realize they’re are few things that catch me off guard now in these games.
