Final Fantasy XIV expansion Dawntrail is coming July 2 2024. The successful MMO from Square Enix, launches its new expansion on July 2. However, players who pre-order Dawntrail can gain early access starting June 28 on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.

Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail Early Access

A new adventure in Final Fantasy XIV begins in a few days. After a lackluster launch (in terms of numbers) on Xbox Series X|S, Square Enix’s MMO receives the Dawntrail expansion with a host of new features to discuss.

The release date is July 2, 2024. However, players can pre-order the fifth expansion of the MMORPG to unlock early access to the content.

The early access for Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail starts this week, on Friday, June 28, meaning some players can start the new story significantly ahead of time.

Another important aspect is that early access has no restrictions. There is no embargo, nor are there any blocked contents for streaming on platforms like Twitch and YouTube.

Square Enix confirmed this in a statement: “During the early access period, there will be no restrictions on what content you can discuss, post, or stream as long as you comply with the Material Usage License Agreement.”

Beware of Spoilers

In the same statement, Square Enix also asks the fortunate users to please refrain from sharing important aspects of the plot, characters, or main missions of Dawntrail… at least until the release day. If they do, many users who have not pre-ordered the expansion might learn certain narrative details and spoil the experience for themselves. “However, we ask early access users to be considerate and do their best to avoid posting spoiler-related content, as some players may start on the official release or play at their own pace.”

We’ll see if the Final Fantasy XIV community complies with Square Enix’s request. What is clear is that Dawntrail is very important for the evolution of Final Fantasy XIV, as it lays the foundations for a new story.

Naoki Yoshida, the MMO’s director, believes that Final Fantasy XIV could see the light on the next Nintendo console. Additionally, he acknowledges that the release of Dawntrail was postponed to avoid coinciding with Shadow of the Erdtree.
