In a surprise turn of events Xenoblade Chronicles 3 is releasing much sooner than expect, the released date was announced for July 29th 2022.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Release Date Gets Moved Up to July 2022

Nintendo together with developer Monolith Soft has released a new trailer for the JRPG Xenoblades Chronicles 3 which announces the release date for July 29th 2022. This moves the launch a couple of months from its original September release window which was announced during the Nintendo Direct showcase back in February.

The latest trailer shows Xenoblade Chronicles 3 gameplay, including new details have been released about battles with up to seven characters at once. That’s quite the group of characters to party up with.

In this entry, the game will follow main characters Noah and Mio as they travel between the turbulent nations of Keves and Agnus. Joining Noah will be a party of six characters from both of these nations which include Lanz, Sena, Eunie, and Taion. Setting out together, they are on the path to uncover the truth behind the conflict as well as reach Swordsmarch.

Noah is seen wielding a sword in battle and will specialise in close-range combat. While Mio is a Zephyr who is able to draw out enemies and evade their moves. Each party member will have their own classes and players can choose them as they progress the storyline.

One core gameplay mechanic is the Interlink system, a way for the party of characters to tag-team attack. Noah and Mio, Lanz and Sena, as well as Eunie and Talon will be able to use this Interlink system during fights. Combining together to create a giant form called Ouroboros.

A Special Edition of the game has been unveiled by Nintendo and will be exclusive to the My Nintendo Store. Included in this package will be artwork from Masatsugu Saito, the game, a 250 hardcover book and a steelbook case.

This release date is a surprise but I’m sure a welcomed announcement for Xenoblade Chronicles fans, as we’re more likely to hear about delays these past couple of years. A recent delay announced was for the Breath of the Wild 2 which will now be releasing in spring 2023.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be releasing for Nintendo Switch on July 29th 2022.
