Chucklefish’s Harry Potter meets Stardew Valley RPG has just been given a name: Witchbrook. It has a 2D aesthetic like Stardew Valley and it lets you head to magic school.
Chucklefish’s magic school RPG is now called Witchbrook
Despite the magic school premise, Chucklefish CEO Finn Brice said via Twitter that Harry Potter wasn’t the main inspiration. He said:
“taking inspiration from Terry Pratchett’s Tiffany Aching series, Garth Nix’s Old Kingdom Series, Studio Ghibli animations, and even the cartoon show Steven Universe at times.” – Finn Brice, Chucklefish CEO.
So far there is no word on a release date for the game, as the developer says that the release date is still far off. The story follows the player as they complete tasks, advance through school and build relationships–including awkward teenage dating. Activities will include potion making, magical farming and crafting.
Prior to being named Witchbrook, the working title was Project Spellbound. Which name do you prefer: Project Spellbound or Witchbrook? Please comment below and let us know.
