According to leaks and rumors from multiple insiders, the new and upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages will have a medieval focus and will be available on both Xbox and PlayStation 5, even confirming its arrival on subscription platforms.
DOOM Would Be Announced At The Xbox Games Showcase
Xbox has already captured the attention of the entire gaming world by confirming that its annual showcase will be followed by the Black Ops 6 Direct, based on the upcoming Call of Duty. But that wouldn’t be all, as prestigious American media outlets claim that a new DOOM could be revealed at the Xbox Showcase on June 9th.
In an article published by Tom Henderson, he claims to have confirmed that the announcement of the next DOOM will be made during the upcoming Xbox Showcase. In fact, they even confirm that its new name would be DOOM: The Dark Ages.
Henderson wrote that he knew since 2023 that a new installment of the DOOM franchise was coming, which has now been in development for over four years. It would be set in a “medieval-inspired DOOM world.” Without many more details than this, the author himself speculates that it could be some kind of prequel set in the medieval era.
DOOM: ‘The Dark Ages’ Set for Multiplatform
Apparently, DOOM: The Dark Ages would not be exclusive to Xbox Series X|S and would also be released on PlayStation 5, according to what Nate the Hate says on his account. This insider assures that it will be multiplatform, although he only mentions PS5 as its other version, ruling out other Sony and Microsoft consoles.
