Forspoken

  • Forspoken received it’s third deep dive video, this time exploring the magical world of Athia. The title has been teasing what’s coming to the game this time unveiling Combat Challenges.
  • These are some of the most exciting optional activities in Forspoken. Despite having the most generic name, these challenges contain the most awe-inspiring bosses that are of massive scale
  • Also revealed were the Locked Labyrinths. Hidden chambers buried deep underground, forgotten almost by all. These are sprawling underground dungeons with multiple paths.
  • Players will be put to the test when it comes to both combat and their parkour skills. If you want to test your magic, Spellcraft Challenges provide optional tasks that be taken at any Refuge. These not only test Frey’s magical abilities but also help to enhance them.

Hogwarts Legacy

  • The latest showcase for Hogwarts Legacy this week reveals details on gameplay, mechanics, character creation as well as how player choice will affect the ending of the game. In an over forty-five minute gameplay preview, director Alan Tew from Avalanche Software shared more about the gameplay.
  • Players will have choices to make in-game as well as action-based choices that will help dictate the ending of the game. Interactions also seem to help unlock choices when it comes to conversing with Hogwart’s students. These can affect “characters’ lives” and “the ending of the game.”
  • Choice-based mechanics will give a sense of player agency, especially when it comes to a role-playing gameHow many endings is still a mystery, or to what extent our actions will have is also unknown.
  • As for combat, there will be a choice of 16 slottable spells to have on the go. Having this many spells on hand will allow for quick combat actions and getting to know their cooldowns. In duels, you will see the opponent with a particular colour which will represent the spell type you will need to use in order to break their shield.
  • Hogwarts Legacy will be released on February 10th 2023. The Switch release date has yet to be revealed.

The Witcher 3

  • The next-gen port of The Witcher 3 will finally be releasing this December and will be free for those who already own the game.
  • CD Projekt Red has confirmed in a tweet that “the next-gen update The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming on December 14.” The studio has yet to share specific details but we can expect “more details” as well as “gameplay” next week during a live stream.
  • This means the Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions will be released in just one month’s time. There will be an upgrade free for those who have already bought the game. The update will come with numerous visual, performance and technical enhancements for Witcher fans to enjoy. This also includes ray tracing support, “faster loadings times on consoles” as well as “variety of mods integrated into the experience” and more.
  • CDPR have also confirmed all previous DLC including new The Witcher Netflix series content will also be released. As for physical editions, fans will have to wait a little while longer as the studio shares that will come “at a later date”. Baldur’s Gate 3

  • Larian Studios have announced recently that their turn-based RPG Baldur’s Gate 3 which is currently in early access is on track for its full launch next year in 2023. But you won’t have to wait long for more content as the next major update will be rolling out in December.
  • The title first launched in early access in October 2020, but is scheduled to release sometime in 2023. The next Panel of Hell will be taking place before the end of the year, described as a “festive” edition. In the Community Update that will release alongside the panel, it will go over what’s to coming in the next year.
  • As for the current state of the game, the studio has been working on playtesting Acts 2 and 3. But there is much more slated for the BG3. The developer has shared their aim is for even those who have already played Act 1, to feel like they are having a fresh experience when the game fully launches. If you’re itching to play the game, the early access version is currently available on Steam. There will be plenty to look forward to next year.

The Game Awards 2022

  • It’s shocking to realize that 2022 is almost at its end. This year has blessed us with tons of amazingly good games. It’s almost time to watch The Game Awards 2022 to see who is crowned Game of the Year. But theres a number of categories, 31 awards will be given out live on stream on December 7th.
  • As expected, three of this year’s biggest games got a lot of attention with The Game Awards’ voting board. Elden Ring, Horizon Forbidden West, and God of War: Ragnarok all appeared on the biggest nominations, often all three of them present.
  • The trio has been nominated for Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Narrative, Best Art Direction, and Best Audio Design. God of War even appears twice in the “Best Performance” category. Both GoW and Elden Ring also appear in the “Best Score and Music” categories.
  • Elden Ring has been nominated for 8 total categories, God of War with 10 and Forbidden West gaining 7. As for the RPG category Elden Ring, Live a Live, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, Triangle Strategy and Xenoblade Chronicles 3 have all made the list. What do you think will be the winner this year? Crimson Desert

  • Two titles being developed by Pearl Abyss, fantasy title Crimson Desert and K-pop infused DokeV have been pushed. DokeV first shown at The Game Awards in 2021, was a vibrant mix of creature collecting and action-adventure.
  • Crimson Desert is a stark contrast to the bubbly title, an open-world action adventure game once supposed to be a prequel to the popular MMORPG Black Desert Online. The title has now been pushed, but no release date has been given.
  • The title was originally supposed to be a spin-off of the MMORPG Black Desert Online but the concept changed to an open world Action-RPG.
  • The game became a standalone project set in the fictional continent of Pywel. Taking up the role of mercenaries, players will have to survive the unforgiving environment. Crimson Desert is set to feature both single-player and multiplayer content.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak

  • A free title update will be heading to Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak adding new elder dragons monsters, weapons and more this month. On November 24th, players will be getting new monster versions Chaotic Gore Magala, Risen Teostra, and Risen Kushala Daora. Players will encounter “afflicted monsters” as they complete new anomaly research quests.
  • Players will also be able to take part in new follower collab quests, offering unique hunting challenges to experience alongside their favourite characters. Followers have the use of health recovery items and traps. They can also equip a number of weapons which the players can choose from.
  • Both Hinoa and Minoto from Kamura Village can accompany players, and take part in both anomaly quests as well as anomaly investigations once you have recruited them.
  • A new paid DLC is also releasing alongside the free update that features new weapons. A free DLC will also be released adding Kagami as a voice.
  • Monster Hunter Rise is currently available on Switch and PC.

ArcheAge II

  • A trailer was released by publisher Kakao Games which unveiled ArcheAge II would be coming to consoles and PC in 2024. The open-world MMORPG has yet to have a specific release date. As well as the particulars for which consoles it will be coming to, has yet to be announced.
  • The trailer features an interview with executive producer Jake Song. The trailer went into detail about what will be in store for players. The MMORPG will have “action-packed combat” and offer a “non-linear progression-based seamless open-world experience”. The trailer shows dragons, trolls and more when it comes to battles.
  • ArcheAge II will share the same universe and lore as ArcheAge I, but how the narrative is presented will differ. The sequel will focus on more “personal stories” which follow the first settlers in Auroria.
  • Housing will also be getting further features, with more customisations and the chance to create towns with friends and guild members. It sounds like players will get to create their mini-community this way.
