The Thaumaturge
- The developer behind The Witcher I Remake Fool’s Theory have unveiled the official name for Project Vitriol. Now called The Thaumaturge, this upcoming isometric RPG is set at the start of the 20th century in Warsaw, Poland. The area which is situated near the centre of Europe has a mix of people from all walks of life. However, with the influx of people, comes both good and bad. Both crime and luxury are mixed up here in equal measure, this being the setting for the new IP.
- The recent trailer goes over the dangers of current Warsaw, which include supernatural creatures known as Salutors. These demonic entities live amongst us, though are invisible to the eye. They influence humans and events behind the scenes, ever-present yet remains unseen. This leads to a solution of specially trained humans that can sniff out these dangerous fiends, Thaumaturges.
- The isometric title is a turn-based RPG, set to have branching storylines and will be a “morally ambiguous narrative-driven RPG”. Thaumuturge stems from the Greek word for someone who can conduct supernatural events, so expect plenty otherworldly themes in this upcoming title.

Baldur’s Gate 3
- Last week we had news that players can begin to explore the Forgotten Realms in full as soon as August 31st. Baldur’s Gate 3 was announced to be coming to both PS5 and PC this August upon full launch. However, this left Xbox fans wondering, hey where’s our version? Well, developer Larian Studios gave a slight update on this matter.
- Larian shared in a post on the official BG 3 reddit that an Xbox version of Baldur’s Gate 3 has been “in the works for some time”. Baldur’s Gate 3 is designed to be played not only as a solo game but with co-op. This means offering players a split-screen experience when teaming up with their favourite adventurer. However, this has led to some “technical issues” for the Xbox version.
- They confirmed that there is no platform exclusivity and they would share if it is technically possible when they know more. They are continuing to hammer out the problems they have encountered and will be ready to announce “if and when” they can release an Xbox version as soon as they know.

Final Fantasy 16
- The arrival of Final Fantasy 16 is now just a few months away, launching on June 22nd. New details have emerged from the development team who shared some insight into the game on the Japanese Playstation Blog. There were also more gameplay details spilt in recent media coverage, with a gameplay demo.
- In an interview with producer Naoki Yoshida, director Hiroshi Takai, and combat director Ryota Suzuki they went over just how long it will take for players to beat the main story. According to the team, you can expect to take roughly 35 hours to complete the main campaign. The game’s side content will just about double that, meaning we’re in for a good number of hours when it comes to the upcoming Action-RPG.
- Yoshida also helped clear up the concerns around PC. Back in January the producer commented that fans should just pick up the PS5 version. However, in the recent interview, Yoshida doubled down that PS5 is a timed exclusive and the team are interested in making a PC port. But a PC port won’t be coming after six months of launch as the optimisation process will take some time.
- We also got some new details on difficulty for the game. While Final Fantasy 16 won’t have traditional difficulty modes, there will be a choice between Story-Focused mode and Action-Focused mode. The different being Story-Focused gaining ‘Timely’ rings from the beginning of the game. These five rings help in different areas of combat such as slowing down time temporarily before an enemy attacks, or auto-healing Clive when his health drops to a certain level. Its up to the player which rings they equip.
- If you want a step up in difficulty you can access New Game+ mode after you finished the game. While you can expect enemies to hit harder, they will also be different where they are placed throughout the game and provide “full-on different battles”.
- Final Fantasy 16 will be coming to PS5 on June 22nd.

- The game’s cinematic trailer teased Destiny-type combat and mighty sand beasts that players will hunt down. The trailer garnered a whopping 2.4 million views on Youtube. The Action-RPG hasn’t had many details since, but this latest update will surely bring about more news in the months leading up to its release. A recent tweet teases that new gameplay footage will be coming soon.
- The official Steam page describes “devasting sand-powered abilities” which means this will be based in a desert setting. Atlas isn’t the only RPG that’s currently in development. Project Fantasy
- IO Interactive is known for the Hitman series but are working on something rather different. Revealed this week, the studio is developing an online fantasy RPG currently known under the codename Project Fantasy.
- The game is described as being inspired by “Fighting Fantasy” books which encourage readers to choose their own path. Whether that be facing “wizards, lizards” or even “thief kings”. IOI expects that this title will be able to entertain players in “many years to come” according to the blog post.
- The idea is that a group of individuals come together each with their own different skills and strengths to “work together”. This description sounds like a Dungeons and Dragons-inspired title at its core with “creativity, imagination, building a world together”.
- The online element has us intrigued as to whether this will be purely a party team-up or something more MMO. No release date has been announced as of yet, but what we do know from the recent job descriptions they are looking to bring Project Fantasy to PC and consoles.
