Scarlet Nexus

  • Director of upcoming Action-RPG Scarlet Nexus, Kenji Anabuki shared screenshots of the game on their official Twitter account this week. These include more costumes, one of the enemies or “The Others” called Brawn Yawn, the Brain Map which let’s characters learn skills, the Protect Vision as well as Psychokinesis skills and a mascot.
  • One of the most interesting screenshots out of the bunch shows a new enemy called Brawn Yawn, a crocodile like creatures which appears to have light bulb shaped organs on it’s arms. There are lot of strange enemies known as The Others in Scarlet Nexus, and this one is no different. Compared to the other enemies so far this one looks kind of cute…or maybe more so when compared to the freakish bouquet of flowers with legs.
  • There are also screenshots of costumes coming to the game including the deluxe edition of Scarlet Nexus which includes the Red Battle Attire set.
  • Scarlet Nexus will release on June 25th on PC via Steam, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.

Disco Elysium: The Final Cut

  • ZA/UM earlier this week announced they were working on a patch update for the Playstation version of Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, in order to fix a few problems the console version has run into. This includes unfortunate save game bug, controller issues in some places of the game and a number of voice-over problems.
  • They have now shared Patch 1.3 is now live, which addresses these issues and more. But the developer will not stop there, as work is underway for 1.4 as well. No roadmap has been shared on upcoming updates but it’s good news they rolled out some of these fixes already.
  • Disco Elysium: The Final Cut released on March 30th for PC and PS5, adding 4K with 60 FPS for the Playstation version. This edition also came with a free upgrade to those who already owned the game on PC. NieR Automata

  • It’s official, an upgrade patch for the PC Steam version of NieR: Automata is underway. If you’ve ever played the Steam version of the game, you will have noticed a number of frame rates issues plaguing the version of the game.
  • Recently a PC version of NieR: Automata was released through the Microsoft Store and Xbox Game Pass as a new port, which fixed a number of issues that currently still exist in the Steam version. These fixes have yet to make it over to Steam, but news that it is in development is good to hear. Further details will be announced about the exact fixes and improvements that will be coming to the Steam version.
  • While there are fan-made mods to help with these problems, an official update would provide a better experience for fans, especially if it comes straight from the developers themselves. It’s great it’s finally getting an official update, as it should be experienced in the best possible way. So far there is no release window for the patch, but hopefully this means you can go from playing NieR Replicant which releases later this month, to NieR Automata without issue.

Mass Effect Legendary

  • Bioware have released a new video that shows the before and after, comparing the visuals of the original Mass Effect trilogy with the upcoming Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Recently the developer went through some of the changes coming with the Mass Effect games, but now have released a trailer that shows the visual differences so fans can see the remasters in all their glory.
  • Bioware explains their “goal from the onset was to improve and enhance the visuals while staying true to the original aesthetics of the trilogy that have become so iconic and genre-defining over the past decade.” They go on to explain that this is a “remaster rather than a remake” meaning the core gameplay has stayed the same, concentrating on the visual aspects. Although ME1 got some changes, quality of life features to streamline the game with its two sequels.
  • The developer ended up improving every single texture throughout the three games, in order to take advantage of the newly supported 4K resolutions. This ended up being over thirty thousand individual textures.
  • Mass Effect Legendary Edition will launch on May 14 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC.

Final Fantasy VII Episode Intermission

  • Square Enix has unveiled the title for the Yuffie PS5 exclusive DLC which is called Episode Intermission. The episode features main character Yuffie Kisaragi, and new details were revealed about the story for this episode.
  • Yuffie will be infiltrating the Shinra Corporation, to steal a powerful materia, in the process trying to “restore glory to her homeland”. Yuffie will utilise both close and long-range combat, and is a member of Wutai’s elite corps of ninja operatives. Her unique ability lets her throw a large throwing star at enemies, in true ninja style.
  • Her ability also allows her to attack with long-range ninjutsu moves, that can be augmented with her Elemental Ninjutsu ability, with the choice of affinity to fire, ice, lightning or wind. Another Yuffie ability is the use of Banishment, unleashing an attack that does more damage based on how much ATB is spent beforehand, so the more damage you deal the bigger the Banishment output. There is also the ability Windstorm, Yuffie can create a gust of wind that damages nearby enemies and launches them towards her.
  • Recently it was also confirmed that the Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children movie will be getting a remastered version in HDR 4K releasing on June 8th, a couple of days before the launch of Intergrade on PS5.
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is available for pre-order, and will launch on PS5 on June 10th.

NieR Replicant

  • NieR Replicant 1.22 will be a shiny new experience for those new to the game, but will also have something for fans who have played the original. Square Enix have shared that there will be content that didn’t make it into the original version which follows instead what producer Yosuke Saito calls “Dad NieR”.
  • Speaking with PCgamesn, Saito shared there will be “extra story sections” that didn’t quite make it into the original game, and “a heartrendingly sad but unbelievably powerful new boss”.
  • If you’re a fan of NieR: Automata you’re in for a treat, as there are plenty of links to the game, plus “something” to do with characters from the original game. Saito confirmed “a new story” linked to Automata, and something that will connect to “Dad NieR”, so those who played the original version will be able to appreciate these additions.
  • Also revealed this week, NieR Replicant will be getting free costumes and weapons DLC ‘4 Yorha’ which was leaked on the Microsoft store shared by Gematsu. This will contain four costumes and four weapons from NieR Automata. So you’ll be able to still dress like 2B even though you’re playing Replicant. So far there is no official word but this looks pretty promising.
  • NieR Replicant Ver.1.22474487139 is releasing for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23.

Solasta Crown of the Magister

  • Tactical Adventures not too long ago teased Solasta Crown of the Magister would be leaving early access soon on Steam, also sharing that the next major update would be the full launch of the game. Now just a week later Solasta has been announced to be officially launching on May 27th.
  • If you were wondering whether you will need to purchase the game again if you bought the game while in Early Access, developer Tactical Adventures assured fans in their latest Steam post, you won’t need to purchase anything further, you will be prompted to update the game once patch 1.0 releases. The developer also outlined the game will roughly contain 40 hours of gameplay, which includes sidequests, but will depend on your playstyle. The level cap will also increase to level 10 but there are no futures plans for further levels, as this would cause longer development time, also drawing more time and money to implement new and higher CR monsters.
  • As for if you will be able to continue your Early Access campaign when the game fully launches, the devs say they are trying to make sure that it is compatible with the 1.0 version. If you were hoping for further content to be added post-launch Tactical have already stated they “don’t plan on adding more content to the campaign” but will continue to work on bugs, balancing issues or “popular improvements requested by the community”.
  • Solasta: Crown of the Magister leaves Steam Early Access on May 27th. It is currently available on Steam priced at $39.99.

Baldur’s Gate 3

  • Developer Larian Studios rolls out a hotfix to help those who have “angered the RNG Gods”, with further improvements to the loaded dice.
  • Larian implemented the optional feature of loaded dice rolls in Patch 4.0 for Baldur’s Gate 3, however players have expressed that the RNG was still not fun for them, and still causing a lot of woes. So now the developer has introduced a hotfix to help increase hit chance if you choose to play with the loaded dice.
  • However loaded dice rolls will only affect the RNG of rolling character’s favour for now, affecting both NPC’s and enemies. This feature is optional and can be turned on and off in the gameplay settings.
  • In case you missed it, Baldur’s Gate 3’s major patch 4.0 landed in February featuring Nature’s Power, adding the Druid class to the game which is currently in Early Access.
