Blue Protocol

  • Blue Protocol reveals exciting additions and improvements in the latest developer livestream. From the introduction of a new class to combating cheaters and enhancing gameplay mechanics, the developers are determined to deliver an exceptional gaming experience. Addressing player concerns stemming from the Japanese release of Blue Protocol earlier this year.
  • Bandai Namco recently shared important updates during a livestream for their MMO, Blue Protocol. The update includes the addition of a new class called the Blitz Lancer, improvements to combat cheating, enhancements to mount riding, and adjustments to the gatcha system. The developers expressed gratitude to players and apologized for early issues, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a high-quality gaming experience and requesting continued feedback.
  • However, the developers clarified that playing the game outside of Japan will result in service suspension for non-Japanese users. Anyone who gets caught while playing outside of Japan will immediately get banned, whether or not they make use of a VPN to mask their location.
  • Smilegate RPG, who both develop and publish Lost Ark in Korea have also announced that they will be releasing a localized version for Blue Protocol sometime this 2023. Other Asian regions are also confirmed to follow suit. A new dungeon called “Forest of Neverending Rain” was also revealed. It features, you guessed it, eternal rain.
  • The most exciting announcement was the introduction of the Blitz Lancer class, known for its agile movements, lance-based combat, and unique Sigil gauge mechanics. Just like Lost Ark’s Glaivier class, the Blitz Lancer has tons of piercing and sweeping attacks. It is also quite fast and furious, with tons of acrobatic moves to give off an artistic approach to combat.
  • In case you’re unfamiliar with the game, Blue Protocol is an upcoming (well, except for Japan) free-to-play MMORPG, that offers a vibrant world set on the planet Regnas. As with any great adventure, players are tasked with saving this beautiful world from destruction.
  • Blue Protocol’s global version was initially planned for 2023. Amazon Games has thus announced the delay to sometime in 2024.

Palia

  • Prepare to embark on a heartwarming journey with Palia, the delightful free-to-play cosy sim MMO that was highlighted during the summer Nintendo Direct earlier. The closed beta was announced to be is kicking off on August 2nd. Those interested in partaking in the beta sign up via the Palia.com website.
  • Don’t feel disappointed if you don’t get into the closed beta, as an open beta is right around the corner on August 10th. Moreover, registered account holders will retain their progress through the Closed Beta, Open Beta, and beyond. Early registrants might even secure a chance to participate in the Stress Test scheduled for July 25.
  • As a new IP from developer Singularity 6, Palia sets out to be the “first-of-its-kind” in terms of community and sim multiplayer according to the press release. Blending community building, adventure, and relaxation.
  • Players can immerse themselves in Palia’s captivating open world, breathtaking visuals and vibrant landscapes. Dive into character and housing customisation. The game also offers rich lore and opportunities to uncover enticing mysteries that lie within. Singularity 6 is setting out to redefine the multiplayer community sim genre.
  • Seamlessly blend farming, crafting, player and housing customization, as well as quest exploration. This could be a good one for those who aren’t interested in zeroing in on the combat side of an MMO but rather the laidback style of a life sim with a social aspect. But according to a FAQ page, the game will have some sort of combat-themed adventures that are opt-in. But don’t expect any direct PVP combat, as this seems to clash with the overall low-stakes world Palia is created to be.
  • If Palia seems like your cosy cup of tea, you can sign up over on the Palia official website. Get a first look at gameplay live during the livestream on July 18th on Palia Youtube channel.

Lost Ark

  • The highly anticipated July Update for Lost Ark arrived this week. This included story updates, another Inferno mode Legion Raid, and more!
  • One of the standout additions in this update is the Elgacia Epilogue. For those of you who have completed the Elgacia quest, there is more to explore and enjoy. Players will get to experience new quests and interact with new rapport NPCs in this region.
  • The next thrilling addition to Lost Ark’s July update is the Kakul-Saydon Inferno Legion Raid. This raid presents the most challenging version of Legion Raids and is designed to test your skills.
  • The Inferno difficulty of Kakul-Saydon offers a challenging gameplay experience where the focus is on showing off victories rather than chasing regular rewards. Instead of traditional gear and materials, the rewards in Inferno Difficulty highlight your accomplishments with titles, achievements, and even Stronghold structures.
  • Moko Island makes its debut, bringing with it a captivating questline where you battle the evil witch Babayaba and earn rewards unique to the island. Explore the island, collect Moko Island Coins, and engage with the Coin Exchange NPC for exciting rewards.
  • Lost Ark’s Gear progression receives a boost with the introduction of Tier 3 Ancient Legion Commander Gear. Other additions include changes to the Auction house, increasing the daily limit from 40 to 100 items. The purchase cooldown has been decreased from 10 seconds to 5 seconds, ensuring we never miss out on buying our coveted gear.

Everspace 2

  • Leaving early access earlier this year, Everspace 2 is heading to consoles Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S on August 15th. Already available on Game Pass at the moment on PC, the title will also be coming to Xbox Game Pass on day one. A new trailer dropped featuring the console release announcement.
  • In case you missed it, Everspace 2 is the sequel to the originally crowdfunded campaign which arrived on PC via early access in 2021. In April this year, the game fully launched on PC. The title follows the dramatic journey of an immortal clone space pilot called “Adam”. His death has final consequences, having an impact on the overall setting.
  • The open-world shooter includes wide-spanning star systems with roughly 30 hours of gameplay in a single campaign. There are also plenty of side missions, loot plus additional challenges to take on. Since the game came to Steam, its sold over 350,000 copies and has had over 120,000 users on Game Pass.

Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

  • The ghost hunting Action-RPG that was first announced in 2022, will be heading to PS5, Xbox Series and PC via Steam on November 7th 2023.
  • Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden follows a pair of ghost hunters who are also in a relationship, Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith. However, they are split up when they go to New Eden when Antea becomes a spirit herself.
  • A new release trailer features a few more hints about what we can expect from this ghostly tale. The video follows the point of view of Charles Davenport, a friend of the ghost hunters who feels responsible for what happened to Antea. He calls the couple to come to save New Eden from the haunted presence that has enveloped the town.
  • Previously DONT NOD had shared a trailer exploring the area of New Eden which is home to many spirits. Combat involves swapping between the two characters. There could be some interesting skills to possess as a member of the beyond. It’s fast-paced and brutal using weapons, magic and spiritual powers. It wouldn’t be a DONT NOD game without some difficult choices to make, and players will have options to banish ghosts or spare them. Inviting in options being judge, jury and executioner if you will. It looks to be a nice mix of horror, action and spooky storytelling.
  • Pre-orders have been announced with the collector’s edition available for around $200 which includes extra such as a statuette of Red and Antea, an artbook, steelcase, rings and a copy of the game as well as the Wanderer gear DLC. The standard edition is $59.99 USD includes the base game and DLC.

Another Crusade

  • An announcement trailer has been released for the turn-based wooden 3D RPG Another Crusade. The title will be releasing this Fall 2023 for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch and PC via Steam. The game is influenced by a classic game Super Mario RPG, which incidentally recently announced a remake in the works.
  • The game takes on traditional turn-based RPG combat, letting you execute commands when the timing is right. The world includes quests and puzzles to solve. Utilising powerful magic that is amplified by button sequences.
  • The art style takes on a nostalgic feel with its 3D wooden textures but is elevated by its animated design. It gives an early Final Fantasy vibe but instead of pixel sprites, it has its own wooden doll charm. Expect comical situations with a cast of quirky characters. Limited Run will be launching both physical and digital editions this year.
  • Another Crusade’s Kickstarter was launched by developer DragonVein Studios in February 2023. Successfully funding its main goal with 480 backers earning $301, 670 MX in total.
  • Another Crusade releases on PS5, Switch, Xbox and Steam in Fall 2023.

Baldur’s Gate 3

  • There was a fair bit of news for Baldur’s Gate 3 this week. Larian Studios doubles down that saves from the early access version of Baldur’s Gate 3 won’t be transferable to the full launch in August. A community post via Steam rounded up details from the Panel of Hell.
  • You won’t be able to continue from your save of Act 1 which is currently available in Early Access for Baldur’s Gate 3 says Larian. This is due to the fact that Act 1 in v1.0 of the game has gone through some changes and is 33% bigger content-wise in the full version. This means you will be making a fresh start when you adventure through the game this August.
  • The best way to look at the early access version now is as a pre-order of the game. The developer behind the CRPG Larian Studios suggests if you’re adamant about purchasing and playing the game now, do not get attached to your current playthrough as all will change once the game fully launches.
  • But Larian assures no two playthroughs are the same. So rest assured restarting this August will mean you get a completely fresh start in Baldur’s Gate 3 as with everyone else.
  • In case you missed it, Larian’s recent Panel From Hell covered a few interesting details about the upcoming game. This includes bespoke classes with multiclassing, respeccing classes and romantic relationships. Companion relationships change over time, and even have intimate relations. You might even end up marrying a companion if they find you bearable in Baldur’s Gate 3.
  • Also shown was the new crafting feature involving the art of Alchemy. Using ingredients found in your adventures, you can create some interesting concoctions including potions, poisons and even oils to imbibe your weapons.
  • Multiplayer was also covered during the panel which shared how other members in your party will be involved when playing in a group. While some scenes will remain private by default, other conversations can be viewed by your party members. They can even vote on which options they think you should take. This certainly sounds like we’re in for some entertaining chaos.
  • We’re also introduced to a new baddie, Orin the Red. A third of the trinity of BG3 villains, Orin likes nothing more than inflicting pain and committing murder. This slippery character has avoided being caught due to her shape-shifting nature. What makes them quite terrifying is that they could be absolutely anyone, even someone in your very own camp.
  • If you’re eager to know what you’ll be getting up to beyond Act 1, we’ve released a new video/article which goes over our experience with the game, 8 hours of it in fact. Sharing what has changed, character customisation as well as multi-classing.
  • Prepare yourself for your journey into Baldur’s Gate 3 by venturing to our wiki. We will have plenty of builds, guides and more to get you going.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 will be released on August 3rd on PC. Playstation 5 players will get to play as soon as September 3rd if they have pre-ordered the Digital Deluxe Edition, or September 6th for everyone else.
