The Witcher Is Coming to Tabletop Role Playing

Rejoice Witcher and tabletop RPG fans alike! Today, CD Projekt Red announced the release of The Witcher Role-Playing game in collaboration with tabletop RPG maker R. Talsorian Games, to be released mid 2016.

CD Projekt Red Community Manager Marcin Momot had this to say in the announcement post on their official forums:

The Witcher Role-Playing Game will allow tabletop RPG fans to re-create an array of characters known from the Witcher universe and live out entirely new adventures set within the world of Geralt of Rivia. Powered by Fuzion, the same ruleset that made Cyberpunk 2020 gain worldwide player acclaim, The Witcher Role-Playing Game will feature a myriad of spells, rituals, and curses; favorite gear and items from the entire Witcher series including a bestiary of devilish monsters players can face during their adventures. The system will provide all the necessary tools to create and play out your own adventures and become everything from a battle-hardened monster slayer to a merchant kingpin controlling a vast network of contacts.

No words on the specific modifications to the Fuzion ruleset, or whether you will have the option to seduce your fellow party members. But with a game played in real life, anything is possible.

With the continued commercial resurgence of the tabletop genre, there is no better time to get into the hobby of collaborative adventuring with a few of your closest friends. With games like Divinity: Original Sin and Sword Coast Legends taking inspiration from the tabletop genre, and even incorporating dungeon master elements into them, it was only a matter of time before we would see tabletop systems based on popular games. Anyone up for some Dark Souls around a fire?
