Happy weekend from Fextralife! If you’ve been too busy to keep up on the latest in the games we cover or are looking for a refresher we’ve got your back. Let’s take a look at the comings and goings across the Fextralife Wiki Network.
Dark Souls 3
- The Game Award Nominations are in and Dark Souls 3 is a nominee for best RPG, putting it in some good company with games like The Witcher 3.
- From Software’s epic finale to the Dark Souls series was a curious omission from the Game of the Year category as it was received with resounding praise from critics and fans. Perhaps the world is just not ready for a Miyazaki overlordship.
- However, later in the week, the Golden Joysticks released their winners and Dark Souls 3 won their Ultimate Game of the Year Award! So perhaps the world is ready!
- If you’re still fine tooth combing your way through the Ashes of Ariandel DLC, be sure to keep checking this video for the location of everything new!
Nioh
- Sony has revealed the Playstation digital pre-order bonuses for Nioh and also laid out the details of the Standard and Deluxe Editions of the Action RPG from developer Team Ninja.
- The Standard Edition goes for 59.99 USD of the game features a pre-order bonus of a slick armor set for players and a dynamic theme for the PS4.
- Furthermore, players who pre-order the game’s Deluxe Edition at 79.99 USD will gain some additional loot. In addition to the standard edition loot, they will receive another crimson armor set for pre-ordering or purchasing the game within 2 weeks of launch and some new weapons.
- The Deluxe Edition of the game features the following:
- The full game
- Weapon pack with 5 new weapons
- PS4 Avatar
- 3 DLC Missions with the Season Pass which feature a new story, enemies, and characters
- Nioh was recently picked up for western publishing by Sony and was revealed to be receiving several enhancements in support of the PS4 Pro. With these pre-order and edition reveals, we can see that the Sony hype train is already in effect as we march towards the game’s February 7th release on PS4.

Mass Effect Andromeda
- Mass Effect Andromeda continued it’s stream of info reveals this week as part of Game Informer magazine’s continuing coverage for the month.
- First, the newest race, Kett was explored in a feature piece and accompanying video that walks us through the visual design considerations.
- Further on the video, they look at the revisions made to the character models to arrive at the visual look they sought to compliment the race. The changes result in the ominous figure that we see in the game’s recent N7 Day trailer.
- Later in the week, we got a look at how ME:3’s multiplayer influenced the gameplay development of Andromeda. We were shown how jetpacks are being designed for dynamic cover use and how the team at BioWare is refining their station to station formula to be more fluid and speedy.
- Enemy spawns will now come from any direction, making players pay attention to the entirety of their surroundings rather than just in front of them.
- Overall the goal is to keep the game’s squad based tactical play in tact while updating the pace to match industry standards in games like Destiny.

Torment
- Torment Tides of Numenera released a new gameplay trailer this week that focuses on one of the game’s 3 classes, the Nano.

- Choosing Nano gives players a boost to their Intellect of the world’s lore. They can make use of abilities like Scan Thoughts to read the minds of others, enhancing their options and outcomes in dialogue.
- In combat, Nanos can make use of a variety of ranged attacks and spells as well as summoning illusory creatures to your aid. Nanos can also make use of healing abilities for themselves and their party members if things get a little too rough.
