The Week in Wikis: Dark Souls 3, Nioh News, Final Fantasy XV Giveaway, Mass Effect Teasers & More

Happy weekend from Fextralife! If you’ve been too busy to keep up on the latest in the games we cover or are looking for a refresher we’ve got your back. Let’s take a look at the comings and goings across the Fextralife Wiki Network.

Dark Souls 3

  • We hosted our Dark Souls 3 Ashes of Ariandel Holloween Arena event on Monday and had a blast launching into some team based brawling in the PvP dedicated zone. The cosplays were wonderful, even the Havel dressed wet blankets added their share of fun.
  • At the stroke of midnight our contest giveaway of 15 codes for the DLC came to an end. Congratulations to the lucky winners and thanks to everyone who participated!
  • The wiki is packed with everything you need to survive the frozen world of Ariandel, including a full walkthrough of the location, as well as the stats of every weapon and piece of armor. We’ve got great boss videos up as well as a comprehensive video that shows off the locations of every item that can be found in the DLC. Did you think we’d do it any other way?

Elder Scrolls Online

  • The Elder Scrolls Online received a new patch this week that put an end to some pesky bugs for players as well as some revisions to the base game and some of the game’s DLC.
  • Speaking of DLC, to commemorate the release of the Orsinium DLC, ESO is holding a 2 week event with some special perks in the Wrothgar zone, where the Orcish capital city of Orsinium is.
  • Players who haven’t experienced the content yet, can join the activities at a steep discount as Bethesda and Zenimax have put the regular and collector’s edition of the game on sale for the event.

Nioh

  • Nioh had a busy week of news this week, first showing up in Famitsu magazine with some great new screenshots. They took a look at some of the historical figures the Action RPG will feature as it ties in with a seminal period in Japanese history.
  • Team Ninja also confirmed that Sony will be handling the publishing of the game in NA, Europe and Asia excluding Japan. This is a move to ensure that the game gets into the hands of as many people as possible.
  • Team Ninja also went on to detail the PS4 Pro support that the game will receive, and it offers players a mixture of resolution and frame rate options depending on what their specific needs and desires are. The game is really starting to pick up some momentum, now that it is 3 months out.
  • To culminate the week, Sony released an extended TGS trailer of the game, check it out below:

Mass Effect Andromeda

  • Mass Effect Andromeda released a teaser trailer for their upcoming N7 Day, which is a holiday of sorts for the BioWare franchise.
  • The trailer and accompanying release teased the Mass Effect Andromeda Initiative which in addition to being a newsletter, offers people the chance at “special trainings” and rewards for the program completion.
  • We can anticipate some type of info reveal this coming Monday for the occassion, either a trailer or some other gameplay info on the upcoming successor to the original Mass Effect trilogy.

Tyranny

  • Tyranny held a stream of the opening Conquest prologue this week, allowing viewers to make the choices that shape the events of the 3 year conquest by Kyros. This gave fans of the CRPG, which releases next week a chance to see the dynamic impact of the choices they will be making in the game.
  • Obsidian also shared a developer diary that introduced us to a new companion, Sirin, a powerful Archon who can impact the battefield with her unique and devastating songs. If you’ve ever gone to karaoke night you can imagine the horrors and blessings she can inflict on people.

Horizon Zero Dawn

  • Sony and Guerrilla Games have detailed the enhancements Horizon Zero Dawn will receive for the PS4 Pro, when it releases next February.
  • In addition to supporting better image quality for owners of 1080p TVs the game will support enhanced quality of shadow maps and more detailed environmental textures.
  • Owners with 4K Tvs will receive the full support of the new console’s higher resolution as well as HDR support, giving the game a chance to shine in all of its glory.
  • Sony also released some 4K screenshots to show off just great the game will look on the new hardware.

Nier: Automata

  • Square Enix and Platinum Games revealed the stunning Japanese box art for Nier Automata this week, showing the game’s main playable characters in a dramatic pose.
  • They also detailed an awesome pre-order bonus for Japanese Playstation Store purchasers in the form of a classic PS1 skin for the characters’ support PODs.
  • No word on whether the box art and POD skin will be heading to the west, but we can only hope for something as cool as that.

Prey for the Gods

  • In a recent newsletter update, Prey for the Gods developer No Matter revealed that the game will be an open world experience.
  • The action survival game which is drawing comparisons to Shadow of the Colossus is being moved along with the intrepid 3 man team as they approach their hopeful late 2017 release.
  • The update also filled us in on some content that is finished up and their gameplan for the remainder of the year and beyond, such as new bosses and more. We’re looking forward to monitoring the game’s development.

Quite an interesting week with the PS4 Pro announcements. I haven’t managed to preorder one yet, wondering if we’ll face launch-day shortages :(
