In a Bungie livestream today on Twitch, it was revealed that the upcoming Destiny expansion, The Taken King will feature a doubling of the current Guardian vault slots, up to 72 spaces for armor and weapons. It was also confirmed afterwards via Destiny’s official Twitter:
moo
ICYMI: Your Guardian's vault space will be doubling with Destiny: The Taken King on 9/15.

In the livestream, viewers were treated to gameplay of a player accessing a collection terminal which brought up their vault space. The big reveal in doubled storage drew a round of applause from those in attendance.
That is quite the jump in storage space and should alleviate some of the concerns players have when trying to decide what to keep, often being forced to make difficult decisions. However, with promises of brand new gear in the expansion, players may find themselves in the exact present predicament, clamoring for more storage!

Vault Space or riot!!!
This is literally the one extra feature that was required other than the new content. EVen as someone who has barely scratched the surface of end-game, there is just not enough space for all your characters realistically
That’s good news, i’ve been dismantling a lot of weapons recently.
