The original Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance will be getting a re-release for consoles Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X, releasing on May 7th 2021. It was announced by an IGN trailer, which previews the updated graphics.

The game will be available for $30, with backwards compatibility to consoles Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X. The title sets to get a 4K upgrade, but no other significant graphical upgrades.

The re-release will add updated high-resolution graphics but will still preserve the presentation of the original Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance. The game is a top-down Action-RPG with two-player co-op, described as a hack-and-slash classic which originally released on Playstation 2 and the original Xbox.

Black Isle Studios has been quietly releasing Dark Alliance videos over the past week, which many thought were just for nostalgia, but the tweet ahead of the announcement shared the videos were in widescreen, hinting the re-release was coming.

But this is not the only title in the series recently announced, currently a new title Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance is currently in development under Tuque Games, which will bring a new entry to the series. Dark Alliance switches to a behind-the-back third-person rather than a top-down. The game is slated to release this summer 2021. 1. Looks terrible, and no PC for some reason (which also means no mods to actually make the game look good). CDPR was supposed to handle the PC port when it first came out, but the deal fell through, so they went on and made their own game instead.
