The Elder Scrolls Online One Tamriel & Update 12 Now Live on PC

Sweeping changes have come to the Elder Scrolls Online today with the release of One Tamriel and Update 12 today on PC. Players on PS4 and Xbox One will be receiving the update later this month. With the update, several major alterations to the game have occured and we’ve got the details on what to expect.

One Tamriel Details

One Tamriel is the new core structure for the MMO that removes the restrictions to content in the game based on level. In One Tamriel, players will be able to travel anywhere in the game they wish and play the content in any order they’d like even if just starting the game for the first time. This brings the experience more in line with the traditional Elder Scrolls games like Skyrim. The game will scale and balance your character to the content.

Here is a breakdown of some of the finer points of One Tamriel

  • Characters will be Battle Leveled to all zones – same as it happens currently for the DLC.
  • No more PvE alliance restrictions: go to any zone you wish
  • No more PvE leveling restrictions: go to any zone you wish (Except Coldharbour, as you will need to have completed the main quest)
  • No more PvE grouping leveling restrictions: You can quest with low level friends without rolling an alt. (Trials and veteran dungeons still require high level)
  • Every zone has been redesigned to add bosses and a mix of content for both group and solo players, and every dungeon will offer Normal and Veteran modes.
  • No More Cadwell’s Silver and Cadwell’s Gold: Do them in any order you wish.
  • Weapon Skills now have ultimates!
  • All Group Dungeons now have veteran versions, Veteran Challenge Pledges will grant 2 Gold Keys, and all Veteran Pledges will grant 1 Gold Key
  • Craglorn is being designed to no longer require group play.
  • Veteran mode dungeons will now guarantee Monster Mask rewards, and new, streamlined Undaunted Pledges will be available to players up to three times per day, offering Monster Masks and other rewards.
  • There are 16 new Monster Helm Sets
  • There are 20+ new dropped sets and changes to existing ones, including their locations!
  • Itemization and rewards have been standardized in all zones to bring them more in line with what is found in the DLC. Item sets will be tied to specific zones and dungeons and will scale to your level.

Update 12 takes things a step further and adds some other base game features such as:

  • Players will now be able to challenge each other in duels!
  • Holiday events are coming and will bring special rewards.
  • Crown Crates are coming towards the end of November. They will cost 400 crowns and will contain a random assortment of consumables. They will also have a chance to contain unique items like cosmetics and mounts which may no longer be available in the Crown Store.

Lots to see and do and those listed are just the tip of the iceberg! If you’ve been waiting to give the game a go, now is the time for new players, especially with the recent release of the Gold Edition which collects all the released DLC at an entry price. 1. I can’t wait to see this for the PS4 when it’s released, I’d love to see Craglorn and get rid of that Cadwell’s Silver nonsense.
