The Elder Scrolls: Legends gets a new developer as Bethesda switches them over from Dire Wolf Digital to a new studio. The popular strategy card game is based on Bethesda’s series of RPG games Elder Scrolls and was originally released in March, 2017.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends Gets New Developer
The original studio that was working on The Elder Scrolls: Legends Dire Wolf Digital will no longer be developing the game. Bethesda Softworks’ spokeperson Pete Hines shared in an interview with IGN that the publisher were not satisfied with Dire Wolf’s performance. However, they still see a game “with a lot of untapped potential”.
The developer that is taking over the project is Sparkypants Studio, they are the makers of the game Dropzone. While the game will be needing a face-lift, Hines assures that the structure of the game will not change:
I think the overall game design and mechanics are solid, and that’s not changing. When players get their hands on the new version it will still play like the game they know and love. Their collections will be intact, the in-game store will offer the same items, the keywords and mechanics will all still be there.
However, this is not the end of Dire Wolf Digital in terms of card strategy games, they will be working on their own project called Eternal. Hines shared this is not a factor in the reason for switching developers.
The Elder Scrolls: Legends launched in March 2017 on PC, while the Mac, iOS and Android version shortly followed. More will be revealed about The Elder Scrolls: Legends at Bethesda’s E3 2018 showcase which is on Sunday, June 10th at 6:30pm PT.
