The Spike VGX ceremonies just went down and the general consensus is it was out of touch with the core gamer. What better place to bring the conversation back to the gamers than a 100% community powered blog and site. That’s right folks, it’s time for the 1st Ever Annual Fextralife Game of the Year Awards where we issue THE definitive judgement on what went down in the world of games in 2013.  What was your fexiest game of the year?  Cast your vote and since awards categories are never exhaustive make your case for write ins in the comments!  We’ll keep the polls open through the month of December and will start the new year off with a coronation of the winners and handing out of the Fexys!  If you need to pick up a last minute selection, you know where to go!

  1. Taking honorable mentions too, since these are the categories that were voted on, but if there is a trend of write ins in the comments there may be a little fexy something for that game come award time 😉

  2. I’ve played the demo for Tearaway (which got my vote) but apart from that I’ve played none of those games. I own Grid 2 (thanks PS+) but have yet to try it. Damn addictive Warframe. Which should win the best shooter award by the way. Great precision shooter with fun melee and super ninja power elements. I will not stop talking about this game until someone plays with me (insert grumpy emoticon here).
-Best Mobile Game was Plants Vs. Zombies 2
-If it had been released one month later for consoles (although the steam release was 2013) I would wholeheartedly want you to add Knytt Underground to the best indie category. Since there were no Fexy awards last year, I’ll just go ahead and tell everyone it won hands down.

  3. I just finished BioShock Infinite and it’s really good although I’m still partial to the first of the series. I’m keeping track of all the write ins as well, since it’s really hard to have an exhaustive poll unless each category has 30 options.

  4. It does kind of stink that I can’t vote in many of the categories since there are a lot of games up there which I just would never put on a top 30 list of the year. Oh well, opinions and such.

    • That is why we take write ins. The premise of the awards is to take the limiting categories you typically see as a base and then expand upon that by tallying user submissions in the comments. I clarified the verbiage in the intro to better reflect that.

  5. Best game of the year, well have to go with The Last of Us there along with Naughty Dog being the best studio this year. Then best shooter I would have to go with Metro: Last Light. For Best Action Adventure again have to go with The Last of Us. Best Sport game I really don’t know, I don’t play sport games, and didn’t play really any Indie games this year. For best RPG have to go with Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. Have to pass on Best Fighter and Best Driver, again didn’t play many of those but I did see a few videos and going by those I would say for Fighter probably Injustice and for Driving games, Grid 2. Then for most Anticipated game have to go with Dark Souls 2 of course. Finally the last two subjects I don’t know really what to answer.
