Players have been long been awaiting the multiplayer support for more platforms for Stardew Valley, with PC gaining multiplayer in August this year, it is now the Switch’s turn to get the function.
Stardew Valley Gets Multiplayer Support on Nintendo Switch This Week
Traditionally a single player sim RPG, Stardew Valley got a new twist as the developer known as ConcernedApe (Eric Barone) turned it multiplayer. This indie game which is now being published by the developer himself on the several platforms. PC got the first taste of multiplayer since August, the developer has now planned to bring the feature to more platforms, starting with the Switch this week.
A multiplayer update 1.3 that was announced via the official Stardew Valley blog, will give Nintendo Switch the multiplayer feature which will be arriving on Thursday December 12th. The patch will be released for North America, Japan and Europe via the Nintendo eShop. The co-op mode will allow up to 4 players to connect via local wireless or through online using Nintendo Switch Online. Players can start their multiplayer adventure by either choosing an existing save file or starting a brand new one.
Each player that joins the game will have their very on cabin on the farm of the host of the game. Resources such as money will be shared between players but they can have their own “private inventories, skills, achievements, collections, individual relationships, quests, and crafting/cooking recipes.”
Players will be able to communicate through the in-game chat option which holds almost 200 custom Stardew Valley emojis or through the voice chat on the Switch online voice chat feature.
While this patch concentrate largely on the multiplayer feature, single players will not be left out in the cold as there are new events and new shops coming in the winter Season. There also new character events but with all thing Stardew there will be a few hidden surprised according to ConcernedApe who said there is “much more to be discovered”.
Stardew Valley is available to play on PC, Mac, Linux, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PS Vita, PS4 and Xbox One with an Android version is on its way. Multiplayer will be coming to Switch on Thursday December 12th and is already available on PC.
