Square Enix announced that a remake will be coming to Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch as the remake of PSP version of the original Star Ocean game.

To sum up that’s a remake of the remake, of the original Star Ocean title. Confused? Well let’s clear that up a bit:
The original Star Ocean game was released in 1996 on the Super Famicom in Japan by tri-Ace and published by Enix, but was never released officially internationally. The action-RPG Star Ocean: First Departure was released in 2007 on PSP, which was the remake of the original Star Ocean game. Now the PSP version is getting a remake for PS4 and Switch, which will come with new features according to Gematsu and will be released worldwide.

In a post by the Star Ocean Twitter account, Square Enix announced that the title will be remade for PS4 and Switch. Not much else was shared but a lone image featuring the Star Ocean: First Departure R title and the main characters:
