Sophie Turner, the actress from Game of Thrones, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to star in the new adaptation of the Tomb Raider video game series, spearheaded by Emmy-winning creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge.

Deadline has revealed that Sophie Turner, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, is officially in talks to portray Crystal Dynamics’ legendary video game heroine.

Recently, rumors circulated that Turner had participated in screen tests alongside other actresses, including Lucy Boynton (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine). While the report indicates that Turner has stood out among her competition, representatives from Amazon MGM Studios have yet to release an official statement.

Lara Croft’s Legacy on Screen

If confirmed, Sophie Turner would become the third actress to don Lara Croft’s boots. Angelina Jolie first brought the character to life in Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001) and its sequel in 2003. Alicia Vikander later took on the role in the 2018 reboot directed by Roar Uthaug.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, known for her work on Fleabag and her contributions to the Indiana Jones and James Bond franchises, is leading the Tomb Raider project as writer and producer. Speaking about the series, she has previously expressed her enthusiasm:
