Sony offers existing customers sign-ups on their website for pre-order for PS5.
Sony Opens PS5 Pre-Order Sign-Ups to Limited Customers
Sony has now opened pre-orders for Playstation 5, but has limited sign-ups to their website directly. Existing customers in the US can sign up through the website through only “limited quantity” of PS5 consoles will be available to pre-order.

The pre-orders through Sony’s Playstation Direct store will be on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning if you want to be one of the first to get your hands on the console, you have to be quick. Those register and are chosen will be contacted via email. How will Sony determine who will get a successful pre-order? According to the FAQs on the pre-order website those who have shown “previous interests” and based on “Playstation activities”.
Sony has set out to explain that not all sign-ups guarantee a console. Those who do get selected will get the following options when it comes to pre-ordering:
- 1 PS5 Console or 1 PS5 Digital Edition
- 2 DualSense wireless controllers
- 2 DualSense charging stations
- 2 Pulse 3D wireless headsets
- 2 Media remotes
- 2 HD Cameras
So far this only appears to be for Playstation in the U.S. Sony will not be accepting any non-U.S. orders at this time. Exactly how many customers will be granted a pre-order, or for how much the console costs is still remains a mysterious. But with Gamescom around the corner that might not be far off.
Sony has yet to announced the launch date or the price for Playstation 5, but has a release window of holidays 2020.
