Sony has reaffirmed its commitment to major single-player games, as expressed by Sadahiko Hayakawa of Sony in a meeting with the companyโs investors.
Sony’s Commitment to Single-Player Games
According to Hayakawa, while they wonโt release any high-budget single-player games from their internal studios before the current fiscal year ends in March 2025, the company plans to โcontinue releasing major single-player games annually starting from the next fiscal year.โ
Hayakawa mentioned Ghost of Yลtei, the highly anticipated sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, slated for release sometime in 2025. Additionally, Sony is set to publish Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, the next major title from Kojima Productions, exclusively for PS5, also expected to launch in 2025.
While it doesn’t yet have a release date, Insomniac Games is currently working on Marvel’s Wolverine (and quite possibly on a third Marvel’s Spider-Man installment, though unannounced).
Furthermore, it remains to be seen what studios like Sony Santa Monica, Naughty Dog, Bluepoint Games, Housemarque, Guerrilla Games, and Media Molecule are working on, suggesting that PlayStation studios will continue to deliver major single-player games for years to come.
