The team at Tactical Adventures has thus officially announced their latest DLC. Titled “Inner Strength”, this DLC will introduce new character classes (and subclasses), and a new ancestry. A further free update at the same time will introduce some backgrounds, feats, and more!

The Inner Strength DLC

Solasta Crown of the Magister’s Inner Strength DLC’s highlight is definitely the introduction of three new character classes. Each of these will have three subclasses available to everyone, but owners of the Lost Valley DLC will get an additional 3 subclasses.

What’s cool about Tactical Adventures and Solasta is that they held a community event called “Wishing Well”. Here, they invited their fans to participate in designing subclasses. The winner of the contest will have their entries approved and actually implemented in-game.

Overall, they have received over a thousand submissions from the community. That number is definitely heart-warming for a small indie dev. Solasta fans are quite passionate, and they have created some truly unique and well-crafted ideas.

We’ll briefly mention each class and the standard and Tactical-Adventures designed subclasses. However, we’ll give more focus to the community-designed entries.

The Warlock

First up is the Warlock Class. This Charismatic spellcasting class will bring upon its four subclasses. Namely, these are The Fiend (Standard), The Hive (Solasta-specific), The Timekeeper (Community Voted), and The Tree (for Lost Valley owners).

Warlocks always have binding pacts with demonic entities, and the Timekeeper Warlock is no different. As they have taken a Patron from ancient entities known only as Timekeepers, they have been able to receive gifts that can manipulate time itself.

Some of the subclass’s features are as follows:

  • Curse of Time (Level 1): Inflicts enemies with a Curse of Time whenever the Warlock’s spells hit them. This Curse deals half the caster’s proficiency bonus in damage at the start of the target’s turn.
  • Time Shift (Level 6): Allows the Warlock to use a reaction to negate damage completely, blinking out of existence briefly. Due to its power, Time Shift can only be used once per long rest.
  • Accelerate (Level 10): Grants an ally Haste until the Warlock’s next turn. This effectively gives the targeted ally an additional action that can be used. Can be used multiple times depending on the Warlock’s Proficiency Bonus.

The Bard

Another Charismatic folk is the new Bard Class. With his flute and lute, he brings with him the following subclasses: College of Lore (Standard), College of Hope (Solasta), College of Heroism (Community), and College of Tradition (Lost Valley).

Bards who are part of the College of Freedom do not merely sing about heroic tales. These bards are in the thick of things, bolstering the hearts of their comrades. As such, their heroic presence is enough to effectively buff their allies.

Their features are as follows:

  • Bolster Morale (Level 3): Whenever an ally uses the effect of Bardic Inspiration, they roll two dice instead of one and pick the highest value. Essentially, it works like Advantage, for Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, or Saving Throws.
  • Heroic Tale (Level 3): Buffs a target to allow them to have an advantage on saving throws, and makes them immune to Fear and Frighten.
  • Thundering Voice (Level 6): The Bard’s booming voice is so loud that whenever they give Bardic Inspiration to allies, any nearby enemies must make a Wisdom saving throw or take thunder damage. They also have a disadvantage on the next attack roll.

The Monk

The next is a martial class that punches his way into Solasta, the Monk. This brings upon the following subclasses: Way of the Open Hand (Standard), Way of Survival (Solasta), Way of Light (Community), and Way of Freedom (Lost Valley).

Monks that are adept in the Way of Light are masters of keeping the forces of darkness at bay. As such, they are able to bring in hope even in the bleakest of places.

Way of Light planned features are the following:

  • Luminous Ki (Level 3): Gives the Monk access to the Rise and Shine cantrips. Hits with certain attacks will cause enemies to shine brightly until the Monk’s next turn. Perfect to help make hitting things in those dark and dreary dungeons much more manageable.
  • Radiant Strikes (Level 6): Enemies that are hit while under the effects of Shine or Luminous Ki take extra radiant damage.
  • Blinding Flash (Level 11): Grants the Blinding Flash Bonus Action that costs 2 Ki Points. Nearby foes must pass a Consitution saving throw, otherwise, they take damage and are blinded for 1 turn.

The Rest of Solasta Inner Strength

Aside from the neat classes and features introduced into Solasta’s 3rd DLC is the addition of the Dragonborn Ancestry.

An accompanying free patch will also include Backgrounds, specifically The Ascetic, The Artist, and The Occultist. 17 additional feats will be added, focusing on the martial classes. Bosses have also been activated in the Dungeon Creator as well. And finally, controller support has been added to PC.
