In a post by Skybound, CEO Ian Howe shared his thoughts on bringing these iconic titles to a new generation of consoles:
These games are iconic, including Baldur’s Gate, which has really set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer roleplaying games. We’re excited to bring Beamdog’s incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time. As longtime fans of Baldur’s Gate and Dungeons & Dragons it’s fantastic to partner with Beamdog as the newest member of the Skybound family.
Baldur’s Gate was originally developed by Bioware and Black Isle Studios back in 1998. Planescape: Torment by Black Isle Studios was released in 1999, Neverwinter Nights came out in 2002 from Bioware, and Icewing Dale was released by Black Isle Studios in 2000. All these titles were published under Interplay Entertainment and are well-known classic RPG titles. Skybound have also in the past published physical copies of games such as Hollow Knight which came to all platforms with physical version last year in August.
More details of upcoming release dates and box content is expected in the coming months.
