Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption Announced – A Dark Souls Inspired Boss Rush Game

Publisher Another Indie Studio and developer Dark Star Game Studios have officially announced their Dark Souls inspired boss rush action-RPG Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC in Q1 2018.

Sinner: Sacrifice for Redemption Announced

Check out their announcement trailer:

Adam, a fallen soldier on a quest to save his soul, will face eight abhorrent bosses, the first seven each based on one of the deadly sins. Before each clash, Adam must make a sacrifice to enter combat and choose a stat to level down. Each fight will be tougher than the last and force players to carefully choose their actions in battle, aided by a variety of unlockable weapons.

The action is framed by a desolate afterlife in which Adam seeks to restore his memories and atone for his sins. How he interacts with each boss will ultimately decide his fate in one of multiple endings.

The leveling down mechanic is particularly interesting as it requires a sacrifice, making the mechanic similar to a biblical atonement of sorts. The bosses are very Dark Souls meets Shadow of the Colossus and seem to present similar challenges.

Dark Star Studios is made up of former Ubisoft, Konami and Blizzard people and the game will be making its debut at Gamescom next month. We’ll be sure to bring you more updates on it as they come!

  1. Holy shit! Inspired by Dark Souls much? I think I saw hollows, fat rolling, huge greatswords, Lightning Spear, Tower Knight etc all in 30 seconds…
