There have been many ports being make available on the Nintendo Switch, we had Dark Souls Remastered last year, as well as Skyrim the year before, but now there are rumours suggesting that a Witcher 3 port could be coming.
Rumour: The Witcher 3 Is Coming to Nintendo Switch
So what has sparked this rumour of a Nintendo Switch version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt? Well there have been a number of listings popping up in Asia which was spotted by a Resetera poster, showing reservations for the Switch version. For sites such as Taobao which equates to the Amazon of China, this isn’t uncommon, as sellers will list products that can be pre-ordered from gadgets off Kickstarter to games that are yet to release. But is there any weight behind these listings? [UPDATE – The Switch version has been confirmed, read more in The Witcher 3 Is Coming To Switch.]
For one the images and details used suggest that it will be a Game of The Year Edition and will be releasing for the Switch in September of this year. The Resetera member known as Jim_Cacher explains that some of the larger sellers are even listing it, which could mean they know something about the release.
However, since none of this has been confirmed by developer CD Projekt Red, take this finding with a pinch of salt. But with E3 2019 just around the corner, we could be getting an answer to this rumour soon, as they will be attending to show some gameplay of their upcoming title Cyberpunk 2077. Maybe there could be an announcement about a port?
As a Nintendo Switch owner, I think this would be an awesome title to have added to the game library, adding further RPG choices. If Dark Souls Remastered can run smoothly and titles such as Zelda Breath of Wild are pretty enjoyable in docked mode and handheld, I don’t see why the Witcher 3 couldn’t stand to be ported but maybe slightly downgraded for performance.
