New details revealed about Playstation 5 suggests that the next generation of console will also be backwards compatible with a number of previous consoles.
Rumour: Playstation 5 To Have Backwards Compatibility Feature
While previously revealed that Playstation 5 will be compatible with games from Playstation 4, now new have details arisen saying that there will be more compatible games from previous console generations. The release date for Playstation 5 is still unknown, but the release window is set for the holidays of 2020. With under a year to go, new information has started to pop up but an overall reveal is still not apparent, however that could change at CES 2020.
But what has been uncovered lately is a report from HipHopGamer that shared Sony is working on a “Remastering Engine” for PS5, which would mean PS1, PS2, PS3 and PS4 titles could all run on the platform with enhancements.
The report says it is similar to that of Xbox One X, which will also have backwards compatibility. Not only running these games on the newer console but adding features such as 4K support.
None of these details have been confirmed by Sony themselves, so take these details with a pinch of salt. While the sources are not revealed, other media sites seem to think that that this report has credibility. We will be looking out for further details at CES 2020 happening next week.
