RPG News Weekly Round Up – October 29th, 2017

The Elder Scrolls Online

In the past week, Zenimax Online Studios finally launched their much-awaited Update 16 for their MMORPG, The Elder Scrolls Online. The new update includes the much-teased Clockwork City DLC that brings players to the mechanical wonderland of Sotha Sil. It also boasts one of the most useful features that’s ever come to ESO,  called the Transmutation System. Transmutation allows players to swap out Traits on their equipment, replacing less desirable ones for those that are. FromSoftware’s brutal action-RPG Bloodborne,  will be getting a new clothing line that’s based on the game. It’s part of a collaboration between Sony and video game apparel company Insert Coin, who announced that their upcoming Blooborne  themed attire, which is slated for a November launch. The new clothing line includes a nice black, Hunters of Yharnam City hoodie, a Hunter t-shirt and much more. Also, heads up! If you were planning to play some Bloodborne  PVP or Co-Op during Halloween on October 31st, you might want to find something else to occupy yourself with. FromSoft announced a few days ago that they’ll be conducting a server maintenance on that date. We have the full schedule detailing the regions and times for when the server will go down, and you can look it over in the article on the blog. Quite strange indeed. Makes you wonder what they are up to…

Persona 5

It’s time to open your wallets, if you dare. As lovable Atlus unveiled three new DLC bundles of their popular JRPG, Persona 5,  that are now available in the PlayStation Store.  First, there’s the Persona bundle which includes all Persona DLC summons that can be used in the game. Then, a Costume/BGM bundle, while lacking the Persona add-ons, makes up for it by including all character costumes & BGM DLCs. And finally, there’s the very premium Ultimate Edition bundle, which includes ALL of the Personas as well as ALL of the costumes and BGM tracks, for a whopping price of $124.99 on the PS4 and $114.99 on the PS3.

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Larian Studios, the developer of the critically-acclaimed CRPG Divinity: Original Sin 2,  went on Twitter and revealed an obscure tease for something “wicked”. The studio setup the tease by presenting an image of an apple with the tagline: “We’ve heard a rumor that something wicked is coming…”. And, that’s about it. No hints pointing to a release date or as to what it is. Some think its a piece of Halloween DLC or something else entirely. This is certainly quite the mystery so stay tuned for more details. Halloween is just days a way, so we might have an answer soon!


Final Fantasy

Square Enix announced that their upcoming Comrades multiplayer expansion to their ever-growing RPG, Final Fantasy XV, has been delayed. Initially, the multiplayer expansion was set to launch on October 31st, 2017, but now that date has been pushed into early November of this year. The reason given was that the game’s development team is still working on some finishing touches to the expansion. Square Enix chimed in and stated that it’ll provide “the best possible experience”.  There are other details like a price increase for the online DLC and more that you can read about in the article.

Destiny 2

Good news PC gamers, having just launched last week, you can finally get your hands on Bungie’s latest title, the online-shooter RPG, Destiny 2,  and join in on the fun PlayStation and Xbox gamers have been havingThe PC version of the game supports resolutions of up to 4K, has an unlocked frame-rate, as well as have full keyboard & mouse support and more. The previously announced PC release of the once PlayStation exclusive action-RPG, Nioh: Complete Edtion,  had many PC gamers weep tears of joy. And as customary, it wasn’t long until questions perked up about the upcoming PC version’s technical aspect. An interview WCCFTech conducted with Team Ninja’s Creative Director, Fumihiko Yasuda, answered some of those questions. One of them about the use of the Denuvo DRM, to which the Director simply replied: “The game will not be using DENUVO.”  More answers to questions like the game’s controls and graphical settings for PC can be found on the blog.


Full Metal Panic!

Some news for anime fans here as Bandai Namco announced Full Metal Panic! Fight: Who Dares Wins.  It is an upcoming turn-based, strategy-RPG that’s based on the comedy/mecha anime and manga series, “Full Metal Panic!”. The game is in development by B.B. Studio, who were also behind the Super Robot Wars  franchise. Who Dares Wins  will launch in Japan, exclusively for the PlayStation 4 sometime in 2018. There’s a trailer to the upcoming Full Metal Panic!  game that is fully narrated in English, showcasing gameplay which you can watch in the article provided.


Kingdom Hearts

A product listing for yet another Kingdom Hearts  collection that’s planned for the PlayStation 4 was spotted online. The Kingdom Hearts  compilation was found on the German Koch Media Shop, which stated a November 24th release date, and on the German Amazon website with a price of €69.99. And it wasn’t long until the links were taken down. The leaked info on the collection featured a mixture of Kingdom Hearts  video games and movies, and includes: Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 + 2.5 Remix  and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8: Final Chapter Prologue.  You can check out the complete list right on the blog.


Metal Max Xeno

And finally, we have another mystery story, but with a conclusion this time. As PlayStation Japan’s official YouTube channel released a mysterious teaser showcasing a post-apocalyptic project in the works for the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita. Referred to as “True End of Century RPG” at its unveiling, the footage featured various armored vehicles, with flashbacks of war and an unnamed red-headed character, all in a world buried under sand.

It was later revealed that the mysterious video was actually the next Metal Max  game. A turn-based, vehicular-combat, open-world RPG series, and its called, Metal Max Xeno.  The upcoming title will see players collect an assortment of vehicles in which they can customize for battle. There’s a large set of screenshots which gives us an early look at the game, that you can check out in the blog.
