Over the past week, Sony Interactive Entertainment and game publishers announced that the highly-praised Demon’s Souls, FromSoftware’s first game in its Souls franchise, will have its servers brought offline in early 2018. This would mean no more tense and exciting invasions, deceptive and helpful messages, and bloodstains littered all throughout in the game. Divinity: Original Sin 2
Game developer Larian Studios, revealed that they’ve surpassed the one million milestone for their highly-acclaimed CRPG, Divinity: Original Sin 2. Occurring just a little over two months since the game’s release back in September. Prior to this, Original Sin 2 was close to reaching its 500,000 mark, happening in a mere few days from its launch. Bandai Namco has shared a large batch of screenshots and information on CODE VEIN, their upcoming anime-souls, action-RPG. These recent images showcases the new “Ridge of Frozen Souls”, a winter wonderland level, and character, who is called Nicola Karnstein. The Elder Scrolls Online
Continuing their “10 Million Player” milestone celebration, which has been seeing a variety of events and promotions, developer Zenimax Online Studios has kicked off a Free Play Event of The Elder Scrolls Online MMORPG. Which began on November 30th, and will last up until the 6th of December. New players will be given a number of bonuses for taking part in the promotion. Star Ocean: The Last Hope
Co-developed between Square Enix and tri-Ace, Star Ocean: The Last Hope 4K & Full HD Remaster is now available for purchase in both North America and Europe on PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam, for a price of $20.99. This latest remaster is the prequel to the Star Ocean franchise, making it a good entry point for new players, and boasts a number of enhancements and features over the original, which you can have a look at, in the blog.
For those who’ve yet to get their hands on Bungie’s latest online-shooter Destiny 2, now is your chance. Activision has kicked off a free trial for the game that started on November 28th, 2017. And it’s available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via the Battle.net client), allowing new players to sample a portion of Destiny 2‘s Campaign and online PvP in the Crucible. Players can level up to Guardian level 7 and any progress will carry over if they decide to purchase the game at a later date. Monster Hunter: World
Sony Interactive Entertainment revealed its complete free games line-up for PlayStation Plus subscribers to enjoy in December 2017 and among them included Capcom’s much-anticipated Monster Hunter: World Beta for the PlayStation 4. The Beta begins on December 9th and will last for 4 days and is free to anyone who has PS+, no strings attached. Playground Games Studio
In a bit of surprising news, Playground Games, the studio behind the Forza Horizon series of racing games, has been brewing up plans and acquiring some notable talent for their next venture. And it involves the creation of a AAA open-world, action-RPG. This pivot in genres was set-off by the UK developer’s recent purchase of a second studio, which will double their staffing size. The dark fairy-tale themed, digital RPG board-game Armello, will soon be getting a physical release that’s coming in early 2018. Announced by indie developer League of Geeks, in collaboration with publisher SODESCO, this upcoming boxed version is dubbed Armello: Special Edition and will include a physical soundtrack. Shin Megami Tensei V
Atlus has officially announced that the upcoming JRPG, Shin Megami Tensei V, will be making a debut in the West for the Nintendo Switch system. The game puts players in a post-apocalyptic setting during modern day Tokyo, where survivors are at the mercy of demons running rampant. In our last bit of news, YouTube Channel 64 Bits created an entertaining Dark Souls animation, Cuphead style. Cuphead, the “run ‘n’ gun” hit has, much like Dark Souls, an old-school take on challenge. Needless to say, this has made this mashup quite interesting, and it’s amusing to see iconic Dark Souls characters and enemies done up in the Fleischer/Disney aesthetic. The entertaining animation short can be found on the blog for those in need of a good laugh.
