During Capcom’s Resident Evil Showcase, they have announced the next entry in the franchise, Resident Evil Village will be releasing on May 7th 2021, for PS5, Xbox Series X, PC, as well as PS4 and Xbox One. The game will also offer a free upgrade for corresponding next-gen platforms. A free demo is now available for PS5 called Maiden.

New gameplay footage was revealed, which takes place after the events of Resident Evil VII: Biohazard. Gameplay shows players exploring the Dimitrescu Castle somewhere in the mountains, with Ethan Winters (a character returning from RE7) being chased by a group of vampires, including a very tall vampire lady which has sparked the internet’s attention last week.

The footage also previewed some of the new features coming in RE: Village, which included an inventory system similar to Resident Evil 4 and even item crafting. Players will find a merchant called The Duke, but whether he’s on Ethan’s side is another matter.
