Mark your calendars trainers, as Nintendo have announced a special Nintendo Direct to focus on the upcoming Pokemon Sword and Shield for June 5th.

Pokemon Sword and Shield Nintendo Direct Announced for June 5th

A 15 minute livestream presentation is taking place on June 5th featuring Nintendo’s latest entry in the Pokemon series, Pokemon Sword and Shield which is set for 6:00 AM PT/9:00 AM ET.

It was in February on “Pokemon Day” when Nintendo announced that Pokemon Sword and Shield would be coming to the Nintendo Switch this year. Featuring a trailer showing off some of the surroundings trainers will encounter with a rather small town feel, with some grassy plains and unveiling that random encounters are making its way back into the game. It also introduced new Pokemon in the form of a monkey type creature called Grookey, a bunny with flames aptly called Scorbunny, and a lizard type that has the ability to go invisible in water called Sobble.

For a refresher of the Nintendo Direct that announced the title you can watch it below:

While the release date was not announced, the trailer shared that it would be coming to the Switch towards the end of 2019. While the placement image doesn’t reveal much of what is planned for the Direct, it does say it will be 15 minute presentation. Could they be announcing the release date? Or will they be saving that one for their E3 2019 press conference. It could be another gameplay presentation showing more of the features that are coming with Sword and Shield. While Pokemon Let’s Go was the first title to launch on the Switch (unless you count the free-to-start title Pokemon Quest), it lacked a lot of features that fans of the series knew well. Sword and Shield sets to be the more complete RPG version that has been awaited on the Switch. Since Let’s Go interacts with the popular app Pokemon Go, it’s a wonder if there will be some sort of interaction with Sword and Shield as well.

If you’re tuning in for presentation you can catch it on the Nintendo Youtube channel or you can visit this livestream link to set a reminder so you don’t miss it.

Pokemon Sword and Shield will launch on the Nintendo Switch late 2019.
