Persona 5 Voted Best Game of All Time!

Persona 5 Voted Best Game of All Time!

Enterbrain, a Japanese magazine publisher just released issue 1,500 of their popular Weekly Famitsu magazine and included the results of a survey in which they asked readers to vote their favorite game of all time regardless of release date, genre, or platform.

So, it’s going to be a while before we know how it stacks up to Persona 5.

Persona 5 has been a smashing success and you can read up our review of the game here!

You can also read our NieR: Automata review. Despite it being in fourth place, the game is compelling in its own right with some the most beautiful and unique original soundtracks ever conceived. If you ever need help with the game, come visit its wiki!

Hatsune Miku is listed Three times lol.
You can definitely see the bias in the game selection. if this was a global online poll it’d be nothing but Blizzard games, LOL, Counter strike, Cod and battlefield.

Seeing Chronotrigger, A suikoden game and Xeno gears really says something though. Great games that really deserve to continue but probably won’t sadly.

I don’t really like Famitsu (they hated Demon’s Souls and changed their mind when the audience loved it lol)
However, a survey done in Japan among readers of Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu is unavoidably going to have a Japanese bias. Look at the Japanese charts – Microsoft isn’t even here. Local marketing and interests are at play, but the chances there was a non-Japanese game/developer in the “all time” list are as slim as them beating Monster Hunter off the top of the charts :P

I was going to point out that Famitsu famously gave one of its rare perfect scores to FInal Fantasy XIII (a game which didn’t make the top 40), but compared to their readers and and the “sizeable panel of celebrities” the editorial staff apparently has great judgement.

Seriously a number of the games, like Sonic Adventure 2, not only aren’t among the greatest of all time, they aren’t even good. I’m also noticing that not a single game was from a non-Japanese developer. That’s kind of sad.

It’s not my personal best, but it’s up there. Hopefully SEGA will take this to mean that what they should do is let Atlus do whatever they want without interfering. Also SEGA earned a whole lot of goodwill just by not screwing with P5 (much) when publishers are becoming increasingly notorious for meddling with and damaging or outright ruining the experience, so hopefully they’ll keep that up too.

I mean, it could also go horribly wrong and this could be that last Atlus game that’s any good, but lets not think about that.
