Path of Exile Expansion Delayed to Avoid Cyberpunk 2077 Launch

Path of Exile developer Grinding Gear Games have decided to push the release date of their upcoming expansion to avoid Cyberpunk 2077 new launch date.

Path of Exile Expansion Delayed to Avoid Cyberpunk 2077 Launch

In a post on the official Path of Exile website, developer Grinding Gear Games announce the delay for the end-game expansion, version 3.13. Originally set to launch on December 11th, they are now pushing the release to next year January 2021.

The reason for the change in release date was due to the recent news about Cyberpunk 2077 now launching on December 10th. GGG explained that the decision was so it wouldn’t put ” players in a position of having to choose between these two games”. This means 3.13 will now be releasing January instead.

Path of Exile will however still be getting some “interesting” stuff over the course of Christmas/New Year, so players will still have something to look forward to this holiday season. The delay won’t have an impact on development schedule moving forward, as the delay was not due to development timing but giving players more breathing space between game releases.

The latest expansion Path of Exile: Heist launched back in September which added a new heist feature. This allows players to put together their own hired crew of specialised thieves to infiltrate a secure facility to retrieve valuable Artifacts.
