Path of Exile 2, Expansion and Mobile Outlined in 2023 Roadmap

In a recent post on the official Path of Exile forum, Grinding Gear Games has released a roadmap of what’s ahead for POE players in 2023. This includes the next expansion, the next major phase with Path of Exile 2 and the mobile version of PoE. While the release of Path of Exile 2 has already been slated for 2024, it looks like another busy year for the online ARPG.

Upcoming Expansion

The next expansion or 3.21 will be launching in early April. This means the current challenge league The Forbidden Sanctum will last longer than usual. In the meantime, the developer is looking at some things to do in between, before the launch of 3.21. The chosen time frame is to make sure that the next update has enough time and that nothing is rushed. GGG plan to reveal the next expansion 3.22 at ExileCon with the launch taking place two weeks after.

Path of Exile 2’s Beta & Mobile

The post mentions that the dates for Path of Exile 2 beta will be released “alongside” ExileCon. Not much else was shared in the post, but previously the developer outlined the aim for this next phase’s launch would be in 2024. While the 2 certainly makes the game sound like a separate part entirely, previously the devs had detailed that it will provide a brand new 7th Act Campaign. Both PoE 1 and 2 will share the same game client. However, while both share the same end game, characters from the first game won’t be playable in the PoE 2 campaign. It also sets to bring a brand new skill gem system plus seven new classes.

Path of Exile Mobile will also be getting a showcase previewing what the on-the-go version will look like. The mobile version will be similar to its PC counterpart with “no pay-to-win” elements according to the official website. Previously the devs had said that ExileCon will goers will get to test out both PoE 2 in its current state as well as mobile.

ExileCon 2023 takes place from July 29th to 30th in Auckland, New Zealand. Path of Exile is currently available to play for free on PC.
