It’s been a busy week at the Tokyo Game Show for Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo’s action RPG Nioh. Because of that, we’re bringing everything that has been revealed together here for your reading and viewing pleasure.
Release Date and TGS Trailer
The week started off with some big news on the release front, with Nioh announcing a global release for PS4 on February 9th 2017. Hot on the heels of that news was a brand new trailer for TGS that gives us a look at a brand new snow covered stage, several new enemies, a new spider boss, new guardian spirits (snake, rabbit and tiger oh my!) and some nifty new movesets.
TGS Gameplay
Next up was the TGS floor where we got to check out some new never before seen content and play through another challenging boss. The snow stage is set at Honnouji, a famous temple in Kyoto where Oda Nobunaga died. Oda Nobunaga was a powerful daimyo who attempted to unify Japan during the late Sengoku period. The boss is called a yuki-onna which translates to snow woman, but this particular one is actually Nouhime, Nobunaga’s wife who also died at Honnouji. When we took our turn, we did the community proud and defeated the boss, earning us some nifty buttons.

Making-Of Videos
Furthermore, fans are now getting a behind the scenes look at the making of Nioh, with 2 special videos that show the development process. Windows into the world of game development are few and far between so these come as a treat.
Deluxe Edition Revealed &Â Then Some!
The Deluxe Edition for the game has also been announced, and the details are as follows:
- Cost for the Deluxe Edition will be 10,000 JPY (about 100 USD)
- Will include the 3 DLC Missions with the Season Pass
- The new missions feature new story, enemies, and characters
To cap it all off, the results for the beta survey have been posted in Japanese here, and the team will be streaming gameplay throughout the TGS weekend. You can watch the streams as they occur here. No word on whether owl cafes are on the agenda.

Is your head spinning yet? Mine certainly is! This should all come as relief to those suffering beta demo withdrawal, and we can surely expect even more reveals in the months to come. Keep checking back for future updates!
