Nintendo Confirms Metroid Prime 4: Beyond is Coming in 2025

Metroid Prime 4: Beyond will bring a new action-shooter adventure sometime in 2025. However, it remains unclear whether Metroid Prime 4 will also launch on the successor to the Nintendo Switch.

Metroid Prime 4 is Still On Track for 2025

Itโ€™s one of the most anticipated games of recent years. Many still recall its official announcement during Nintendoโ€™s E3 2017 showcase, which left fans hyped for Samus Aranโ€™s first shooter entry on the Switch.

Unfortunately, its development has been rocky, to say the least. In 2020, Nintendo confirmed a complete reboot of the project, with Retro Studios taking over most of the development duties from Bandai Namco.

Along the way, the Metroid franchise experienced a resurgence with the excellent Metroid Dread (Metroid 5) and an impressive remasterโ€”almost a remakeโ€”of Metroid Prime, the classic GameCube title.

Finally, after years of waiting, Nintendo confirmed during the June 2024 Direct that Metroid Prime 4 will release in 2025. Unless something changes, itโ€™s expected to be the last MAJOR exclusive game for the Nintendo Switch before its successor arrives.

What weโ€™ve seen of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond so far is nothing short of exciting. The gameplay appears incredibly smooth, featuring spectacular visuals that push the technical limits of the Switch.

Adding to the excitement is the inclusion of Sylux, one of the franchiseโ€™s most iconic villains, who was last seen in Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a 3DS spin-off.

The Release Window

In an unexpected move, Nintendo has taken another step forward by updating Metroidโ€™s official website. However, there are no new videos, images, or a more specific release date just yet.

On the Metroid website, a mention of Metroid Prime 4 now appears, linking to the gameplay footage revealed in June, alongside the main artwork and a brief description.

Metroid Prime 4 is listed after Metroid Dread and Metroid Prime Remastered, signaling that it will be Samus Aranโ€™s final adventure on the Nintendo Switch.
