Amazon Game Studios has announced that New World will longer be releasing on August 25th, but has been set back to spring 2021.
New World Delayed to 2021
The MMORPG New World was planned to be releasing on August 25th, but has now been postponed to next year, 2021. Amazon’s New World studio director Rick Lawrence explained that the delay was due to the fact that they wanted to add more content to the game before it’s official release date. This also correlates with the final beta test which will take place in spring 2021 according to the statement:
As a result, we will be changing our launch date – and correspondingly, our final beta test – to spring 2021. We don’t make the decision lightly, and we have urgency about getting the game to you as quickly as possible at the best quality — with some additions that will make the experience even better.
This isn’t the first time that New World has been delayed, it was originally slated to release in May, before being pushed to August. The postponement was due to the COVID-19 pandemic which has caused a number of delays in plans for many developers.

But doesn’t mean there won’t be a beta in August, according to the statement Lawrence says that some players will have the chance to try out New World on August 25th. The length of the beta hasn’t been given, plus those who have signed up for beta and pre-order customers as well as Alpha testers will have a chance.
New World is an Action-RPG all about the Age of Exploration, adding survival elements as players attempt to colonise Aeternum, a mysterious island. This MMO will have massive battles where up to 100 players can join, taking combat to the field. Join companies, build strongholds or go it alone in solo.
New World will now release on PC in Spring 2021 with the next beta going live on August 25th. For more on New World be sure to check out our Everything About New World, Amazon’s Atypical MMORPG.
