New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Mounts
Let’s start with the unlockable mounts. Aeternum is pretty huge and exploring on foot will take up so much time. Good thing there are three unlockable mounts that you can get by questing and fulfilling certain requirements. Note that mounts don’t really differ in speed, it all depends on your Riding skill. Naturally, having 200 will make you faster than anything lower.
Horse
Once you hit level 20, you’ll see a horseshoe icon pop up on your map. That’s your cue to start the “Change of the Wild” questline and unlock the horse mount. Head over to Everfall, talk to Jochi Khan, and begin the “My Kingdom for a Horse” quest. Finish it up, and you’ll get the horse mount.
Dire Wolf
If you want to get the Dire Wolf mount, you’ll need to reach level 45. First, unlock the horse mount, then complete the horse races that pop up on the map. After that, head to Weaver’s Fen and talk to Francois De La Arma to start the “Smuggler’s Ring Circuit” quest. Complete the questline and you’ll unlock the Dire Wolf mount.
Lion
To unlock the Lion mount, you first need to reach level 65 and unlock both the horse and dire wolf mounts. Next, complete the first four races given by Valencia, followed by five additional challenging races assigned by Satiah Ramotep. Once you’ve finished these races, speak with Satiah to begin the Codex Aeternum Circuit questline. Complete this questline to unlock the coveted Lion mount.
How To Level Up Mounts
Leveling up your mounts is a great way to boost their speed and stamina, letting them run faster and longer. You’ll need to level up the previous mount before you can unlock a higher rarity one. Plus, leveling your mount up also helps leveling your Riding Skill so you’re pretty much hitting two birds with one stone.
Here are some easy ways to level up your mounts in New World:
- Just Feed Them: Give them some Barley, Water, Milk, or Mount Vittles to help them level up.
- Mount Quests: Keep an eye out for mount-specific quests while you’re exploring; they’ll help you gain levels, too.
- Timed Racing: Join timed races and try to hit all the checkpoints before time runs out.
- Vittles: Craft your mounts some Vittles. It comes in 4 Tiers, with each one giving you more Riding XP than the last.
Mount Vittles are consumables that give extra Riding XP, making them the fastest way to boost your riding skills. They come in four tiers based on quality, with rarer Vittles requiring more costly ingredients to craft.
Here’s a table explaining what Mount Vittles Tiers are available in New World Aeternum and what crafting ingredients you need to create them. You’ll need to have at least Cooking Skill level 1 and have access to Kitchen tier 2 or Camp tier 1 to be allowed to craft the regular Mount Vittles.
Item Name | Crafting Ingredients | Quality |
Basic Mount Vittles | x1 Barley x1 Water x1 Milk x1 Honey | Tier I – Common (1250 Riding XP) |
Mount Vittles | x3 Basic Mount Vitamins x1 Barley x1 Water x1 Milk | Tier II – Uncommon (2500 Riding XP) |
Hearty Mount Vittles | x3 Complex Mount Vitamins x1 Flour x1 Water x1 Butter | Tier III – Rare (8000 Riding XP) |
Luxury Mount Vittles | x3 Potent Mount Vitamins x1 Flour x1 Water x1 Butter x1 Salt x1 Honey | Tier IV – Epic (15000 Riding XP) |
Take note that you can only feed your mount thrice a day, so I suggest going straight for Mount Vittles instead of the Basic ones, then just feeding your mount the better Mount Vittles as your Riding skill gets better.
Mount Equips
Just like your character, your mount can wear its own unique armor and gear. Each mount has two main equipment slots: one for a Mount Shoe and one for a Mount Strap. You can also customize its look with cosmetic attachments. The Mount Strap gives combat buffs or boosts your mount’s abilities, while the Mount Shoe increases your speed on and off the road and helps recharge your dash faster.
How To Build Up Your Riding Skill Quickly
Since I did mention that you’ll need to increase your Riding skill to be really fast, here’s a way to increase them quickly.
- Feed Your Mount Daily: Make sure to feed your mount thrice a day to level up passively.
- Complete Time Trials: Doing these races is the quickest way to level up. You’ll get quests to complete different sets of races across the map.
- Race Types:
- Tours: Go from one point to another within a time limit.
- Rallies: Same as Tours, but with checkpoints, so it’s easier to follow.
Progression Through Races: Completing the first set of races will get your Riding Skill up to around level 90. The second set will take you to about level 120, while the third set will bring you to level 150. Additional races will then help you reach level 220. Completing the final sets will max out your riding skill at level 250.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Factions
In New World: Aeternum, joining a faction—Covenant, Marauders, or Syndicate—helps build your reputation and connect with other players. Each faction has unique beliefs and lore, and offers special PvP and PvE missions that reward you with faction tokens, experience, and influence. These activities help you level up, access exclusive gear, and participate in territory control for perks like reduced taxes and better resources.
Factions also add a competitive edge with PvP battles and faction wars, where you can defend or attack territories. You can complete introductory quests for all three factions before deciding, and even switch factions later if you change your mind.
Marauders
The Marauders are a ruthless military force bent on establishing a free nation. One where anyone with the strength to do so can prosper and profit.
They are a faction of warriors who believe in personal strength and the right to take what they can earn through force. Their motto is all about survival of the fittest, and they seek to establish a society where the strong thrive and the weak are left behind. They are not interested in lofty ideals or hidden knowledge like the Covenant or Syndicate, but rather in carving out their own power and prosperity through sheer might and determination.
Covenant
The Covenant is a fervent group of individuals that has charged itself with cleansing the land of heretics and defilers. They do this so that its true holy nature can flourish and justice can be restored.
They believe that they are chosen to cleanse Aeternum of corruption and bring light and justice to the land. They see themselves as holy warriors, striving to purify the world and rid it of any forces they consider evil or heretical. Their focus is on enforcing their ideals of righteousness and using the power of the land for the greater good.
Syndicate
The Syndicate is a secretive organization of immeasurable cunning and intellect in search of forbidden knowledge. Their plan is to usher in a new age of enlightenment.
The Syndicate sees itself as a society of scholars, spies, and strategists dedicated to unraveling the mysteries of Aeternum. They are motivated by curiosity and the desire to uncover the hidden truths of the island. They believe that knowledge is the ultimate power, and they seek to use it to control and influence the world around them. Unlike the other factions, the Syndicate operates in the shadows, preferring intrigue and cunning over brute force.
Joining a Faction
- Level Requirement: To join any faction, players must reach Level 17.
- Leveling Up: Focus on completing Main and Side Quests to gain experience quickly.
- Faction Questline Locations: Upon reaching Level 17, players will notice colored icons in Everfall representing each faction:
- Green Triangle – Marauders
- Yellow Winged Diamond – Covenant
- Purple Diamond and Circle – Syndicate
- Starting the Questline: Go to the faction icon and speak to the NPC there to start a questline. These quests are straightforward since the game guides players through each step.
- Joining the Faction: After completing the questline, players can choose to join the faction or decline. If they decline, the quest will still count as completed, and they can join later.
- Faction Switching: Players can switch factions after 120 days but must complete the new faction’s quests if they haven’t done so already.
There are also some things you should consider before joining a faction:
- Roleplaying Aspect: The choice of faction often comes down to personal preference and roleplaying. All factions offer similar rewards and missions.
- Territory Control: Consider how much territory each faction holds. Factions with more territory can engage in more War events, while those with less territory may find opportunities to conquer enemy lands.
- Housing Discounts: Players receive housing discounts in settlements aligned with their faction, so this is a practical consideration when choosing where to settle.
Missions
Faction Missions are divided into two main types: PvP and PvE.
PvP Missions
- Objective: PvP missions involve tasks such as delivering important messages, patrolling areas, and gathering intelligence.
- PvP Flagging: Taking on these missions flags players for PvP, allowing enemies from opposing factions to attack. If a player is killed during a mission, they must return and pick up a new quest.
- Rewards: Completing PvP missions earns faction currency, which can be used to purchase gear and other items. Additionally, these missions help increase the faction’s influence in the territory.
PvE Missions
- Objective: PvE missions are more straightforward and typically involve hunting creatures, gathering resources, or crafting items.
- Rewards: Like PvP missions, PvE missions also reward faction currency, although they usually offer less than their PvP counterparts.
If maximizing rewards is a priority, PvP missions generally provide better returns in terms of currency and influence.
Companies
Companies are player-run organizations in New World, similar to guilds or clans in other games. They enhance collaborative gameplay in several ways. They must align themselves with one of the three factions (Covenant, Marauders, or Syndicate). This alignment dictates which faction’s territory they can claim and the type of PvP engagements they can participate in.
Companies within a faction can work together to conquer enemy territories and defend their own. The success of a company in claiming and holding territory contributes to the faction’s overall power and influence in the game.
These are the perks of being part of a company:
- Collaboration: Companies allow players to work together on resource gathering, crafting, and PvP activities.
- Structure: Each company has a leader and ranks for members, creating a structured hierarchy.
- Territory Control: Companies can claim territories, engaging in wars for control over regions, which directly impacts access to resources and trade routes.
- Resource Sharing: Members can share resources with one another, facilitating collective goals and enhancing gameplay.
- Events: Companies often organize events such as PvP battles, expeditions, and crafting sessions, fostering camaraderie and community interaction.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Territory Reputation
In New World Aeternum, Territory Standing is basically your reputation within a specific area. The more you do things like quests, crafting, or fighting enemies, the more points you earn, which helps you level up your standing in that territory. Each time you level up, you get to pick perks like faster gathering, lower property taxes, extra storage, or cheaper crafting fees. It’s a way to make things easier for yourself based on what you’re focused on in that area.
How to Build Up Territory Reputation
There are a lot of ways to build up your Territory Reputation and earn points. These are some of the methods I felt were the best way to raise your reputation.
Cooking
It’s best to start by stocking up on cheap ingredients like red meat and firm fish fillets. Be sure to play the Territorial Triumph song buff for an added bonus for your reputation. After the song, make your way to the kitchen (this may be slow if you’re carrying a lot of meat). Select the travel ration recipe and cook your gathered ingredients. This can earn you around 7,766 territory standing right away. If you have enough resources, this method is worth it; I gained over 11,000 standing in just a couple of batches.
Tackling Corrupted Portals
Watch for announcements in global or recruitment chat about group runs for taking down corrupted portals. Joining a team not only earns you territory standing but also weapon XP and rewards from chests after defeating them. Higher difficulty portals yield better rewards, starting around 300 standing for smaller ones.
Crafting
If you have surplus materials and gold, head to the territory you want to improve and craft items in bulk. Crafting grants standing—about 920 for each batch, which adds up over time.
Exploring the Territory
Discover uncharted landmarks to earn territory standing just for exploring. Pick up quests along the way for additional character XP, gold, and more standing. This is an easy way to level up while navigating new areas.
Town Project Board
Don’t forget about the town project board. Each territory has a notice board with various tasks that can earn you between 600 and 700 territory standing, depending on task difficulty.
Territory Reputation Points And What You Can Spend It On
When you’re putting points into rewards, aim for that first milestone of 12 (30.5% return). Don’t waste points on perks that give less than a 1% return early on; the gains just aren’t worth the effort in the early game.
Standing EXP
Make Standing EXP your number one focus until you hit 12 points (30.5%). If you add the Territorial Triumph buff from playing music, you can keep that boost at 60%. This is super important because getting to Rank 300 takes a while, and this can help cut that time down by about 30%.
Gathering Speed
Next up, max out gathering speed to 12 points (30.5%). This perk is really handy at the start, but it loses some value later when you get tools that boost your speed by 650-850% and music buffs that add another 75%. So while that 30% boost is great at first, it becomes less significant as you progress.
Property Tax / Crafting Tax
Both property tax and crafting tax are equally important, especially if you’re planning to own a house in the area. You’ll be paying weekly for that, so cutting those costs by 30% is a nice perk—especially if you’re eyeing a Tier 4 house with maximum storage. On some servers, this can hit around $167 a week. Crafting tax matters too since you’ll be doing a lot of crafting in your home area, earning standing EXP while you’re at it. Level these taxes up evenly.
Trading Tax
Trading tax is something to think about more in the mid to late game. Early on, you’ll be focused on crafting for standing, so trading tax isn’t a big deal yet. You might spend about $5-10 a week on trading taxes, while crafting and property taxes usually add up to more.
Faction Tokens
Faction tokens are super important in the endgame, but they’re not really useful early on since most items you can buy are PvP-related and easy to grab. Only start investing here after you’ve maxed out the other options to 30%.
Alternative Priorities If You’re Not Getting a House
If a house isn’t in your plans, switch up your priorities a bit:
- Trading Tax: This becomes the top reward since it applies to anything you sell in the area, making it a must-have if you’re into trading.
- Standing EXP / Gathering Speed: After you tackle trading tax, go back to leveling Standing EXP and Gathering until you hit at least 25 points (36.6%). Their value will go up based on your situation.
- Faction Tokens: These become more useful as you level up, especially in areas with Expeditions. Prioritize these if you’re farming and doing faction missions in the same spot.
- Property Tax / Crafting Tax: If a house isn’t on your radar, hold off on upgrading these until your other rewards hit 25 points.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Crafting
In New World: Aeternum, your gear is key to getting stronger in both PvP and PvE. Better weapons and armor mean you’ll hit harder and survive longer, and crafting is one of the main ways to improve your gear.
There are plenty of crafting skills, but let’s stick to the main ones: Armoring, Weaponsmithing, Engineering, and Arcana. The key to raising these skills early on is simple: craft stuff. And a lot of it. You’ll probably end up making a bunch of useless items, but that’s just part of the process. You can sell them on the trading post or salvage them—it’s all up to you.
It’s also a good idea to craft your own equipment early on. I crafted a musket as soon as I was able to, and it was way better than most of the loot I came across during the early game. Crafting your own gear can really help bridge the gap until you start finding better drops or want to create more specialized items later.
Armoring
Armoring is a flexible trade skill for crafting armor. As I previously mentioned, you will be crafting a lot of items in order to level up your crafting skills. Here is a list of items and the amount needed for you to craft so you can efficiently improve your Armoring.
Armoring Leveling Guide (Levels 1 to 250):
- Level 0-50: Start by crafting about 25 Linen Dresses or Linen Shirts. These only require Linen, Coarse Leather, and Iron Ingots. Salvaging these after crafting can help recover some materials.
- Level 50-100: Craft Sateen Gloves (~288 needed). Use Sateen, Coarse Leather, and Iron Ingots. Again, salvage them to regain some resources for more crafting.
- Level 100-110: Focus on crafting about 44 Silk Gloves to unlock the next tier. Continue salvaging to conserve resources.
- Level 110-150: At this point, craft either Shipyard Watch Gloves or Shipyard Watch Shoes (~172 needed). You’ll need a new resource, Jade Collar, which drops from Dynasty Shipyard Expedition mobs or can be purchased.
- Level 150-160: Craft around 77 Infused Leather Gloves. These use the typical mix of Infused Leather, Linen, and Iron Ingots. Salvage extras to keep materials flowing.
- Level 160-205: Mass-produce either Guardian Plate Gauntlets or Guardian Spearmarshall Boots (~344 needed). This part requires Spectral Dust, obtainable from Lazarus Instrumentality Expedition mobs or bought from the Trading Post.
- Level 205-250: Choose between crafting Spinweave Gloves or Dark Leather Gloves (~394 needed). Depending on server prices, use Spinweave Cloth or Dark Leather. If the crafted items don’t sell well, salvage them for more materials.
Weaponsmithing
Weaponsmithing is a valuable trade skill for crafting melee weapons like Swords, Great Axes, Rapiers, and War Hammers, which are essential for PvE and PvP. Like with Armoring, here is a list of items you can craft along with the amount needed to level up your weaponsmithing efficiently.
Weaponsmithing Leveling Guide (Levels 1 to 250):
- Level 0-50: Start with crafting about 43 Iron Greatswords using Iron Ingots, Timber, and Coarse Leather. These materials are fairly easy to gather, making this a cost-effective way to gain initial levels.
- Level 50-100: Move on to Steel Greatswords (~124 needed). You’ll now need Steel Ingots, which require refining a lot of iron, so keep those smelting stations busy.
- Level 100-150: Focus on crafting 167 Starmetal Greatswords. This is when ore gathering becomes more intensive, as starmetal is a bit rarer.
- Level 150-160: Transition to Orichalcum Greatswords (~30 needed). These use orichalcum ingots, which require a lot of mining, so stock up on Azoth to travel between mining spots.
- Level 160-205: Choose between crafting Garden Keeper Greatswords or Complex Conqueror’s Greatswords (~193 needed). For these, you’ll need resources like Sticky Vines or Ancient Talismans, found in Genesis and Ennead Expeditions.
- Level 205-250: Craft a mix of Mythril Greatswords and Mythril War Hammers (~178 needed). They share similar resources, and you might find some profit on the Trading Post, depending on your server’s economy.
Arcana
Arcana is a crafting skill, allowing players to create a variety of potions and magical weapons. Here is a list of items you can craft along with the amount needed to level up your Arcana crafting efficiently.
Arcana Leveling Guide (Levels 1 to 250):
- Level 0-50: Start by mass-producing Common Corruption Tinctures (~268 needed). These require easily obtainable ingredients like Water and a Tier 2 protective reagent, which you can find throughout the world. Make a habit of gathering any strange-looking plants as you explore—they usually have what you need.
- Level 50-100: At this stage, switch to crafting magical weapons like the Steel Life Staff, Steel Fire Staff, or Steel Flail (~114 needed). Choose the weapon based on the cheapest elemental motes available, such as life wisps or fire wisps.
- Level 100-105: Craft 42 Powerful Health Potions. The materials are a bit pricier, but this is the most efficient way to reach level 105.
- Level 105-150: Mass-produce Powerful Mana Potions (~816 needed). These are cheaper to make compared to health potions, so they’re a better option for leveling up quickly.
- Level 150-205: Go back to crafting magical weapons, such as Orichalcum Ice Gauntlets or Orichalcum Void Gauntlets (~275 needed). Check your server’s market prices for water motes and death motes to decide which is cheaper.
- Level 205-250: For the final stretch, craft either Mythril Ice Gauntlets or Dark Leather Void Gauntlets (~139 needed). Again, choose based on the current cost of water motes vs. death motes.
Engineering
Engineering is a crafting trade skill that allows you to craft powerful ranged weapons, tools, and more. Leveling it up depends on what materials you have or what’s cheapest on your server. Here is a list of items you can craft along with the amount needed to level up your Engineering crafting efficiently.
- Level 0-50: Start by crafting Gunpowder (~108 needed). It only requires Flint, Aged Wood, and Saltpeter, which are easy to gather in the wild.
- Level 50-60: Quickly craft around 13 Lacquered Wood Bows or Spears, depending on whether Coarse Leather or Iron Ingots are cheaper on your server.
- Level 60-110: Focus on making Aged Wood Fishing Poles (~242 needed). You’ll be crafting these in bulk, so be prepared to gather lots of Aged Wood and Fiber.
- Level 110-150: Keep grinding those Fishing Poles (~906 needed). It’s a bit repetitive, but it’s a cost-effective way to hit level 150.
- Level 150-160: Switch to Orichalcum Blunderbusses (~35 needed). These require more advanced materials but provide a solid experience boost for a small number of crafts.
- Level 160-205: Craft named weapons like the Garden Keeper Blunderbuss or Complex Conqueror’s Blunderbuss (~211 needed). You’ll need specific resources like Sticky Vines or Ancient Talismans from Expeditions, which can be traded or farmed.
- Level 205-250: Wrap it up with a variety of Mythril tools (~273 needed), such as Mythril Hatchets and Sickles. Try to mix it up and sell those with decent perks on the Trading Post to make some extra gold.
Crafting Tips
Upgrade Your Tools
It’s a good idea to Craft yourself Iron Tools once you’ve made it to the first town and done a few quests. These allow you to harvest materials faster than the Flint Tools you should have from the main quest line. You can craft these at the Workshop if you have enough materials, and this includes Iron Ingots and Coarse Leathers which were not needed for the Flint Tools. The easiest way to get these is in mountainous areas that have wolf icons on the map, as these have both Iron and Wolves you can gain the Coarse Leather from Skinning.
You’ll want to continue to upgrade your Tools to Steel as soon as you get high enough level because these increase your gathering Speed by a further 120%! This is a massive massive jump in gathering speed, and it will make gathering go so much faster, saving you tons of time. Keep an eye on the Trading Post to see if there are any Steel Tools you can get for your level.
Remember Node Locations & Grab The Bigger Nodes First
One thing to note about the resource nodes in New World, these are things like Iron Deposits, Hemp, and even plants like Lifebloom, is that they all respawn in the same locations. This means if you find a good spot to farm these things, then you can use these over and over to gather the desired Materials. Sometimes it’s better to camp out certain nodes than it is to keep exploring for more that you may never find.
Many areas of Materials also have multiple nodes all close together, varying in sizes with the larger ones yielding more Materials. When you see clumps together, try to harvest the largest first in case another player comes by. You don’t want to be in the middle of harvesting the smallest node, when someone comes and take the large one. That is extremely frustrating!
Get Yourself A Bag
Another tip that can make things a lot easier for you when gathering Materials, and just in general, is increasing your Carry Weight limit. You begin the game with 200, but you can increase this with Bags. Once you hit level 10 you’ll be able to equip your first Bag, and you can either purchase one from the Trading Post, or you can Craft one at the Outfitting Station in any town.
As you reach certain Levels, you’ll unlock more and more Bag slots, so be sure to equip more and more of these as you go. Not all Bags are created equal, and you can craft or purchase from the Trading Post ones that provide a lot more Carry Weight than others. Try to get the best ones you can!
In order to make one you’ll need Coarse Leather, Linen, Iron Ingots and a Minor Rune of Holding. Linen is found from Hemp plants and then refined at a Loom, while the Minor Rune of Holding can be purchased from your Faction Representative. You’ll need tokens from doing Faction Quests, and 1000 Gold to buy one, which isn’t cheap. I highly advise trying to purchase one off the Trading Post first, if you can, but craft one if none are available.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Group Finder
The Group Finder in New World Aeternum is a tool that helps players find and join groups for expeditions and other activities. It allows you to either search for existing groups looking for members or create your own group and set specific requirements like roles and levels. This feature makes it easier to connect with other players and form a team without having to rely on chat channels or friends lists, making group content more accessible. Here’s how you can access the Group Finder:
Go to the menu, select Activities, and choose the type of activity you want to join. Pick the specific expedition, then decide if you want to auto-queue (just remember, you’ll need an Azoth Staff for this). If you prefer not to auto-queue, click “View Lobbies” to manually create or join a party.
Here are the list of activities you can choose from in the Group Finder:
- Expeditions – Basically a regular dungeon
- Mutated Expeditions – A harder version of an expedition with new changes in the mechanics of the encounters, making them more challenging. The difficulty scales up, offering better rewards as you complete higher mutation levels.
- Soul Trials – Solo trials with story elements that let you fight bosses. These have different mechanics from the usual trials and the mechanics are usually based on that Trial’s story. They aren’t usually repeatable but some events allow for repeatable ones.
- Season Trials – These are Trials that are only available for a limited time.
- Elite Trials – These are even more challenging versions of the standard trials, often with unique modifiers or tougher enemies.
You can get the Azoth Staff by doing the main quests. Just keep doing the main questline until you get to the “Forge Your Azoth Staff” quest and then complete it. You will also need to continue the main quest if you want to upgrade your Azoth Staff and unlock other expeditions.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – Combat Tips For Beginners
One important thing to learn early on in New World is how to recognize what enemies are weak to what damage types. This is a fundamental of New World combat that will make things much much easier for you, and there aren’t so many enemy types that you can’t remember which are which.
Recognizing Damage Types
Enemies near the beginning of New World, specifically “Drowned” are resistant to Piercing Damage, are neutral to Slashing Damage, and are weak to Blunt, Ice, and Nature Damage. This means you’ll want to avoid using a Spear, Rapier, Musket, or Bow against them if possible. These Weapons are excellent, however, at killing animals, which you will need to do from time to time for Quests, so it’s not a bad idea to take along different Weapons that have different damage types. The Sword is great for questing because its Light Attack and Whirling Blade are Slash Damage, but it’s Heavy Attack, Reverse Stab, and Leaping Strike ability are all Thrust Damage. This allows you to change damage types while using the same Weapon simply by doing different attacks.
Here is a list of some of the common enemy types and the damage types they are weak to:
- The Lost take extra damage from Strike (10%), Ice (15%), and Nature (30%).
- The Corrupted have weaknesses to Thrust (20%), Nature (15%), and Arcane (30%).
- The Ancients are vulnerable to Strike (20%), Void (15%), and Lightning (30%).
- The Angry Earth are susceptible to Slash (20%) and Fire (30%).
- Beasts are weak to Thrust (20%).
While the weapons do provide certain damage types, some of these, like Lightning, are from the gems that you slot into your weapons.
You can tell if an enemy is resistant to your damage type by the blue numbers and down arrows that appear when attacking them. If the numbers are white then your damage type is neither good nor bad, and if the numbers are yellow with up arrows then they are weak to that damage type. Orange numbers represent a Critical Hit, regardless of whether they are resistant or not to the damage type you are using. Striking enemies in the back will always guarantee a Critical Hit, so try to attack there when possible, especially when opening combat.
Prioritize Active Skills & AoEs
As you gain Skill Points for your Weapon I strongly recommend prioritizing Active Abilities over passive ones initially, as this will give you Skills to use in combat right away. Although there are some excellent Passive Skills, if you select them first you will only have Light and Heavy Attack to use in combat, which can be tedious and boring. Try out different Active Abilities first, find the ones you like and disregard the others.
Another thing to point out is that Attacks and Abilities can hit any target they touch, though the hit boxes for each are different. Hitting multiple enemies with Attacks, and finding Abilities that can hit many enemies at once is the key to success when outnumbered. Learn the hit boxes of your Attacks and Abilities so you can maximize their performance in combat. Many Abilities can hit far more enemies than it would appear if you position yourself correctly!
Some great Weapons for AoE early on are the Great Axe, War Hammer, and Sword. Use these weapons to mow down as many enemies as you can handle at once, after you’ve grouped them all up, or accidentally pulled more than you wanted to.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – About Azoth
In New World Aeternum, Azoth is a valuable resource essential for various activities. Primarily, it allows you to fast travel between settlements and outposts, saving you time as you explore the vast world. It also plays a crucial role in crafting, where it can boost the chances of obtaining better attributes or perks on your crafted items. Earning and managing Azoth wisely is key, as it can run out quickly if you’re traveling frequently or crafting high-quality gear.
Uses of Azoth
There are several uses for Azoth. They are:
- Fast Travel: Azoth is one of your go-to options for getting around Aeternum quickly.
- Resetting Weapon Mastery: You’ll need Azoth to respec your weapon skills
- Crafting Gear: You can use Azoth when crafting to boost your gear score, which can improve stats, perks, and gem slots.
How to Acquire Azoth
Here are the best ways to stock up on this precious resource:
- Completing Quests: Main and side quests usually give you Azoth with each turnover. It’s a good idea to focus on these early on to stock up.
- Grinding Enemies: Some enemies drop Azoth, so you can farm them for a bit. Taking out corruption points is also a solid way to get more Azoth.
- Using Buffed Tools: Equip your gathering tools (like for mining or skinning) with an Azoth extraction perk. This way, you’ll earn some Azoth passively while you’re out gathering resources.
Tips for Managing Azoth
- Limit Fast Travel: While it’s tempting, overusing fast travel can deplete your Azoth reserves. Since the amount of Azoth consumed when using Fast Travel depends on the distance, consider traveling partway and walking the rest to save resources.
- Find Your Playstyle Early: Experiment with different weapons before they start to cost Azoth to reset. Committing to a style early can help you conserve this valuable resource.
About PVP
In New World Aeternum, there are several types of PvP (Player vs. Player) activities that players can engage in:
Open World PvP
- Faction PvP Missions: Players can flag for PvP and complete faction-specific missions in contested territories to contribute to their faction’s influence. Completing these missions while flagged for PvP helps push territories into conflict.
- General Open World Combat: Players can freely attack other flagged players in the open world. This creates spontaneous skirmishes and duels.
Wars
- Territory Wars: Large-scale 50v50 battles to control territories. These wars are scheduled events where attackers try to capture points and breach the fort, while defenders attempt to repel them. Winning a War allows the victor’s faction to control the territory, providing benefits such as tax income and strategic advantages.
Outpost Rush
- Outpost Rush: A 20v20 PvPvE mode unlocked at level 60. Players fight to capture and hold outposts, gather resources, and summon powerful creatures to gain points. It’s a competitive battleground with a mix of PvP and PvE elements.
Arenas
- 3v3 Arenas: Small-scale, team-based PvP where players engage in 3v3 battles. These matches are fast-paced, with multiple rounds to determine the winning team. Arenas provide a focused PvP experience, with a smaller scope compared to Wars and Outpost Rush.
Invasions
- Invasions: While primarily PvE, Invasions involve defending a territory’s fort from waves of corrupted enemies. Although not direct PvP, losing an Invasion can impact territory control and defenses, which can influence PvP outcomes in subsequent Wars.
New World Aeternum Tips & Tricks – Other Tips
before we wrap this guide up, here are a couple of other tips for you to have an easier time acclimating to the game.
Keep an Eye on Gear Durability
When you’re using weapons or tools, they’re gonna wear down eventually. It’s super important to keep tabs on their durability so your gear doesn’t break when you need it most. You can salvage any junk you don’t need to get some repair parts and a bit of gold, which is handy for fixing up your stuff. Plus, consider buying or crafting repair kits (you’ll need at least 15 levels in engineering for that) to save some cash!
Watch Your Inventory Weight
Your inventory has a weight limit, so if you’re carrying too much, you won’t be able to move fast or dodge attacks. How much you can carry depends on your playstyle—if you’re rocking heavy armor, just know it’ll cut down on how much you can carry.
Make use of buy orders
This game isn’t just about fighting; it has a pretty detailed economy too, with a trading post unique to each server. Instead of snatching up items at the lowest prices right away, try posting buy orders. This lets you set a price you’re willing to pay, which players can sell to you when they see it.
Music Buffs
Music is actually one of the most interesting tradeskills in New World Aeternum because it gives your character some nice buffs. As you level up your music skill, you’ll unlock group buffs from the songs you play. One milestone to hit fast is level 25, where you get the “All Together Now” buff, giving you and your group up to a 15% experience boost. Combine that with flagging for PvP, and you’ll be leveling up in no time!
Building Camps
When you’re out exploring, you can set up a camp, which acts like a spawn point. It only takes five green wood and one flint to build, and it’s super helpful when you’re far from towns or shrines. If you die, you can respawn there instead of having to trek back. Don’t try to be a hero—build that camp and keep moving!
That’s it for our New World: Aeternum Beginner Guide. I hope these tips will help you get a firm grasp on what to do in the early game. We’ll be putting out more New World: Aeternum guides, one of which will be a guide about the unique drops you can get from bosses.
