New “Wildspire Waste” Monster Hunter: World Trailer & Screenshots

Last updated on August 23rd, 2017

Capcom has released a brand new video that showcases some of the action you can look forward to seeing in Monster Hunter: World as well as taking a first look at a brand new location, “Wildspire Waste”.

Capcom showcases Monster Hunter: World’s newly-revealed “Wildspire Waste”

A massive, dry expanse with swamplands, this particular area of the New World sees creatures who inhabit the areas adapting to survive. Start your adventure early and take a sneak peek at what to expect when the game launches next year, so help yourself with the latest trailer above and all new screenshots below.

Monster Hunter: World sees players take on the role of a hunter that completes various quests to hunt and slay monsters within a lively living and breathing eco-system full of predators…. and prey.

In the new video you can see some more of the creatures you can expect to come across upon adventuring on your quest. These magnificent beasts include the likes of the Kulu-Ya-Ku, a bird like creature that is often seen stealing other monsters’ eggs from the Ancient Forest and Wildspire Waste.

The giant Barroth is a returning Monster Hunter series favourite and can be found marking its territory with mud as it wanders in search of its favourite snack – ants.

Don’t be fooled by its taste for smaller meals though, this creature will charge anyone or anything that invades its territory and only the bravest of hunters can take on the challenge to bring it down.

If you want to keep up with this title, watch a trailer with all Monster Hunter World Weapon Types. Check out this beautiful Monster Hunter World Gallery and our Monster Hunter World Preview.

Monster Hunter: World will launch in early 2018 for PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release following down the line.

I haven’t ever played the Monster Hunter games before (for the obvious reason that, at least in the US, they’ve only been on handhelds). While this look like it could be a lot of fun, I’m curious what the in-game justification for hunting these monsters is. Are these monsters supposed to pose some existential threat, or contain some resource needed for humanity’s survival, or are you just hunting endangered species for fun and profit?

The monster hunter world is overrun with dinosaurs and dangerous creatures, and people pretty much stick to the villages. Monster hunters go out into the world in parties and bring back meat and materials for themselves at the town, or kill a dangerous monster that was terrorising a trade route.

I didn’t feel evil doing it, and the cats are on your side so we know we are the good guys.

Not that killing for fun and profit would have been a barrier to me playing (I am known to play outright evil characters on occasion  ), I was mostly curious what I’d be getting into. Thank you for letting me know.

I’d just like to mention that Monster Hunter games don’t have much in the way of storylines (With a couple of exceptions). Usually the only story you get is in the quest descriptions "This monster is getting a little to close to a village for comfort. Go kill it." So if anything, you feel like a hero while being a badass monster hunter.

This area sounds cool. It’s a desert and a swamp mixed, which you don’t see too often. Those monster designs also looked fun, especially that one that pick up rocks to use as weapons. It’s nice deviation from the usual raptor design. The more I see of this game, the more I can’t wait to play it. I REALLY hope they put a demo on the PSN store soon.

Also the Diablos is back. We’re all gonna die.
