Sony and Guerrilla Games have shared a new video that explores the creation of the world in Horizon Zero Dawn. In the video, the Killzone developers take a look at the design choices in creating a lush natural world offset by massive lumbering machines.
The video begins with a discussion of the challenges of creating a story for a brand new open world RPG, and then moves on to an examination of the eco zones that will be found throughout the game and how their characteristics influence the machines and tribes that can be found there.
In addition to autumnal locations, there will be desert, high mountains covered in snow, jungles and ancient ruins. Complimenting this are a full day/night cycle along with a dynamic weather system that reflects the zone you are in. To highlight this a sandstorm was shown in the desert zone. The weather will impact gameplay, by doing things like obscuring visibility or possibly making certain actions easier. The video wraps up with some breathtaking visuals the game is already known for.
Horizon Zero Dawn releases for the PS4 with PS4 Pro Support February 28th in NA, and March 1st and 3rd for EU and UK respectively. Keep checking back for more updates!
