Whether it’s the artificially intelligent creepy looking boy Milo or planting an acorn in Fable, Peter Molyneux is arguably more famous for lofty claims which he didn’t deliver upon than he is for his creative achievements. It doesn’t look like he’ll be involved in developing the rumoured new Fable game, which is reportedly being developed by Playground Games. However, that hasn’t stopped him from making some pretty big wishes for what he would like it to include.
The first two games featured the Guild in its prime and hinted at its dramatic origin, in a darker time. Speaking to IGN, he said that he’d like to see the new title exploring the origin of the Guild – with the player as the founding member.
New Fable game: Peter Molyneux’s Wishlist
Craftable spells, brutal combat, rideable dragons and more wishes from series creator Peter Molyneux via his most recent interview:
“The Fable story hinted at a dramatic time before Fable 1 when the Guild was founded, this would be a perfect setting for Fable 4,” Molyneux said, noting “the land of Albion would be much more primitive, the magic much more attuned to nature, the combat much more brutal.”
Peter Molyneux has also said that he’d like to see a massive creature bestiary with all creatures great and small accounted for, from “hordes of small creatures” and “god-sized giants” to rideable dragons.

In terms of the combat, he’d “love to see brutal, visceral and fluid combat system that left permanent scars. Weapons like short swords, long swords, daggers, spears, long bows and crossbows all having a there own combat feel and specialities.”

He also wants magic to be updated, allowing players to “‘craft’ your own unique system” and the option to choose a familiar – such as a fish, dog or a cat – that “assists you with magic and bonds with you.” Where will the hero keep all his animals and dragons? How about in a home that he can “build from scratch up to an abode fit for a hero”?
