Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Ashes of Ariandel the upcoming DLC for Dark Souls 3. Definite spoiler alert for what follows. Feast thine eyes above.

This video has a lot of gameplay to parse out and dissect with the speculative prowess that the Dark Souls community is known for. The footage begins with a look at some hollow knights and a fire breathing foe followed by some impressive environmental effects. Next up is a large axe and shield wielding foe with the speed and power that the game’s difficult enemies are known for.
The trailer gives us a look at some of the beautiful scenery we’ll be traversing through, with a seemingly blood soaked piece of land patrolled by some very Bloodborne looking insects and a field of flowers guarded by a howling.
The trailer concludes with a final riveting boss fight complete with the game’s trademark epic music.
According to an interview with Polygon the content will include 15 new weapons, 4 new armor sets, 4 new spells and the 2 bosses shown. In addition their will be a dedicated PvP zone called the Hollow Arena.
Thoughts on the video? Let us know in the comments! Ashes of Ariandel releases on October 25th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Another side story in a story comprised of side stories; seems like expansion to me…
>
The DLC has nothing to do with the main storyline, it’s just its own separate side story.
Will DLC expand the ending or will it add separate content ?
Waiting anxious the DLC release to deep in the new zone and in the lore, but this trailer and the interviews have created some doubts. One of them is why they said a month ago that the DLC will have more vertical design and now they say that it’s a bast snowfield (something that it’s totally horitzontal). Also why show the 2 boss of the DLC (polygon says it’s only 2) in the trailer(they could hide the woman wielding the scythe, we didn’t see it in the first trailer as a boss and could have been a good surprise).
About the content, it’s a bit dissapointing 4 armor sets when I count 5 possible sets. The one of the men that give us the piece of painting, the one show in the photo with candlestick greatsword, the undead’s armour in the first part of the gameplay, the reinder helm armor(it also has and spirit tree in the cape) and the set of the scythe woman.
But in general, i’m very excited with it and I’ve planned 4 different builds to make with the dlc weapons shown:
A barbaric build using axes and greataxes(i’ve never tried this classes, in fact the only 2 I haven’t never tried).
A spear build using partizan and the new spear that can be thrown(i’ve never tried the partizan and i think that this 2 weapons will match very well)
A frost build with the woman scythe, frost spells, and irithyll weapons.
A candlestick’s build using candlestick’s sword and greatsword and some spells.
just 4 new spells 1 of then being the boomerang and other being the super slow ice mist there better be a useful hex there
So I broke down and watched the new trailer via Vaati’s break down vidya. Some pretty interesting stuff there. Due to some conflicting reports about the Sif 2.0 boss fight, he speculates that the NPC seen in the trailer might actually be an Invader similar to Mirror Knight and Monk boss fights from DS2 and DemS. That would be cool! 15 new weapons
4 new armor sets
4 new spells

would definitly fit into the game as it is right now by all the 2nd Phase bosses in it…from the Lords to NK etc etc – would be just “normal” to set at least one of These fights into the dlc (or both in the end…)
>
I’m also thinking that this is the same boss, 1st/2nd phase.
Fingers crossed that this is Velka.

After further investigation, it seems that the wolf might just be a mini boss, like the croc dogs in Irithyll. And we still have one unrevealed boss.
Mini boss wolves are alright with me.
We supposedly still have one unseen boss.
so Looks like after fire surge we’ll get a fire breath for pyros too? doesnt look so different tbh just in Point of Animation and “landing” of it….would be kinda nicer if it would be like “chaos fire breath” that lasts on the ground like the chaos fireball etc :X
but in Point of enemies it Looks like “Norths” ? in Point of the armor they wear specially the bigger one with the horned helmet, greatshield and axe….(suits the icy land too xD )
interesting i find the new Boss shown with the scythe like (if i remember correctly) and it does look like ist the same room as the big one was shown before with the “estus-lordvessel-thingy” wonder if ist also a Boss with 2 phases….1st the human-scythe one and when switched to 2nd the big one with the “vessel”… seems at least suspicious to me
Not really sure what to think just yet. I don’t like how seems they are doing even more recycling, but I’ll have to wait and until I find out what the new weapons and spells are. If they release a large patch fixing stuff like infusions and so forth along with the DLC then I will be content, if not then meh.

Just read it myself
that is just wrong. Tho if those two bosses both have 3 phases then it might be OK. For example I would have paid the full DLC price for Ludwig-fight only. Wait and see, I guess.
My hopes and wishes just got destroyed after seeing gangbanging enemies quick spam their crap.
And that human NPC with big wolf boss fight running around your camera. LOL.
I’ll pass on this one. When the design is going to be like that again, vanilla is enough for me.

HAHAHAHA ” His brother Gif”

I see what you mean but the DLC area doesn’t look bad at all. It looks more like a typical forest with more realistic geography unlike Forbidden Woods in BB. Reminds me of the forest just outside one of the caves in Dragon’s Dogma, but with snow. It might not be extraordinary but it’s the first time we’ve had an area designed like this. I just hope the area is as open as it looks, and not limited like Crucifixion Woods or Darkroot Garden.

Ok, but is his name pronounced Jif or Gif?
*Ducks*
And those people in the video lied to me
>
It’s actually his brother Gif, this theory is from the person that discovered that “Solar is the Sand Worm”!
Idk im getting tired of 90% deja vu/recycled content. Like ds1 has painted world/snow, ds2 had ivory king dlc, BB had cainhurst, ds3 now have another painted world/snow area. Plus another wolf throwback to sif, viking reference to ds2 and more insects like BB. i hope they tie this stuff in better lots of elements have been thrown here for the sake of throwing them in without adding any real substance. im not as hyped for this as previous installments of dlc. idk think the souls series should end and have original ideas. BB did well for using the framework while having a different approach to things. in the end ds3 feels and looks more like ds1.5

There are only 2 bosses in the dlc.
Confirmed in an interview available just a few tabs down.
Man I hope it is actually Sif. Idk why but he was one of my favorite bosses in all of the dark souls games. This dlc looks like it’s going to be fun!

I’ll second that ^_-
Calling it now the Daughter and Father are Ariandel and Ariamis

The wolf is a boss.
