Bandai Namco has released a new trailer for Ashes of Ariandel the upcoming DLC for Dark Souls 3. Definite spoiler alert for what follows. Feast thine eyes above.

This video has a lot of gameplay to parse out and dissect with the speculative prowess that the Dark Souls community is known for. The footage  begins with a look at some hollow knights and a fire breathing foe followed by some impressive environmental effects. Next up is a large axe and shield wielding foe with the speed and power that the game’s difficult enemies are known for.
The trailer gives us a look at some of the beautiful scenery we’ll be traversing through, with a seemingly blood soaked piece of land patrolled by some very Bloodborne looking insects and a field of flowers guarded by a howling.
The trailer concludes with a final riveting boss fight complete with the game’s trademark epic music.
According to an interview with Polygon the content will include 15 new weapons, 4 new armor sets, 4 new spells and the 2 bosses shown. In addition their will be a dedicated PvP zone called the Hollow Arena.
Thoughts on the video? Let us know in the comments! Ashes of Ariandel releases on October 25th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

That definitely looks like Sif, similar fighting style and appearance but without the sword. Weird though, we have a weapon made from the “Old Wolf’s Soul” (Old Wolf Curved Sword), but there we see Sif alive and well. I guess the Old Wolf wasn’t Sif?
The lady with the scythe sounds like she’s talking to someone, who she refers to as “father”. Religious title or actual father? I like how her scythe looks like a practical weapon though, that’s pretty cool. I’m assuming the guy strapped to the chair is the father in question. Are those downy feathers on his legs?

Lothric’s scythe has a description in the files and this one is different (for example, the handle is straight). I don’t think we’ll be seeing cut content in the DLC’s.
So is that Sif we see? Another giant wolf?? I’m so pumped for this dlc!!!!
so… iirc someone actually found the model for that scythe in the base game files, but though it was meant for the younger prince lothric (the mistake is understandable since the lady wears similar robes).
also I guess I need to farm that torch hollow for the fire breath torch they showed a player using in the previous trailer…
In regards to a potential spoiler element…
Scythe lady looks like the velka statue in the undead settlement.
Yeah they spoil about 2 more bosses + the tea cup person who we already know. I think this can only mean that there are more than three bosses. I’m happy
I hope the tea cup person is going to be the next “Ludwig”. It looks so goofy and weird and they have shown him/her so many times that it has to be an amazing fight.
Hahaha, be careful what you ask for, right? I started to watch and immediately stopped…I want to be surprised, radio silence now….one thought though, I thought the javelin throw was a summer olympic? Bye bye now
So many questions right now… and 25th October it’s so far away
Updated the article with a written overview of what’s in the trailer, for those who can’t watch a video at the moment.
Hmmm yeah, probably.
I think I can spy a new crescent axe-like weapon (the same as the heavy knight enemy uses), and the throwing spear that is being used by the earlier enemies… Also, her weapon is one of the very few frostbite weapon it seems…
Probably just activated God Mode, like they did for the original release trailers. That guy took quite a few arrows from the giant in the Undead Settlement and lived.
Hnnnnggg these spoilers. Can’t wait for those item descriptions.
On another note, just what kind of build is that demo player using? 9999999 vigor and stamina? I’m pretty sure that kite shield would guard break after 4 such hits in the base game.
The animation of the first couple of enemies somewhat remind me of that of Dark Souls 2. Looks great so far! Can’t wait to see the end result.
This gameplay is interesting but above all spoilerish. Beware!
