This news was revealed during their latest earnings call, where CFO Piotr Nielubowicz confirmed the project, building on the success of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. While details remain scarce, the announcement has generated significant excitement among fans of the franchise.

The impact of Edgerunners was so profound that it reignited interest in the original game. Released in 2022 and awarded Best Anime at the Crunchyroll Awards, the series captured the dystopian essence of Night City and offered new narrative perspectives.

This success, combined with the Phantom Liberty expansion, has helped Cyberpunk 2077 surpass 30 million copies sold, solidifying its status as one of the most prominent titles of its generation.

CD Projekt Red Continues To Expand

In addition to the Cyberpunk universe, CD Projekt Red is advancing its strategy of becoming a multi-specialized developer.

During the same call, the studio announced that The Witcher 4 has entered full production. Simultaneously, they are working on a spin-off of the saga, a remake of the first The Witcher, and a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. This diversified approach positions the studio as one of the leaders in the gaming industry.

The success of Edgerunners also opened the door to explore new stories within Night City. While not a direct sequel, the upcoming series could showcase fresh perspectives, such as the lives of the Nomads or the Corpos. Fans remain hopeful that Studio Trigger, the creators of Edgerunners, will return to bring the same quality and storytelling that defined the original anime.
