The Iceborne expansion for Monster Hunter World allows players to upgrade their existing Mantles and Boosters, here we will talk about ways to do so.

Monster Hunter World Iceborne Mantles & Boosters Upgrade Guide

In order to upgrade Mantles and Boosters which are part of Specialized Tools, players must complete optional quests that are already available to them during their story progression. This will be available once they reach the proper Master Rank, and when they max out monster’s research levels.

Main Story

These quests are available during story progression. If you are missing a quest, then level up that Monster’s Research level to the max in order to unlock. Players must have the base Mantles and Boosters from Monster Hunter World.

Ghillie Mantle+

“Ice Catch”

• MR 1 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 2 or higher
• Player must capture a Beotodus.
• Players will unlock the Ghillie Mantle+ after completion.

Vitality Mantle+

“Ice Catch”

• MR 1 ★ located in Elder Recess
• Players must be MR 4 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tempered Banbaro.
• Players will unlock the Vitality Mantle+ after completion.

Cleanser Booster+

“Poison and Paralysis Touch”

• MR 2 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 4 or higher
• Player must hunt a Viper Tobi-Kadachi.
• Players will unlock the Cleanser Booster+ after completion.

Health Booster+

“Feisty Girl Talk”

• MR 2 ★ located in Wildspire Waste
• Players must be MR 6 or higher
• Player must hunt a Rathian and a Pink Rathian.
• Players will unlock the Health Booster+ after completion.

Waterproof Mantle+

“Put That Red Cup Away”

• MR 2 ★ located in Coral Highlands
• Players must be MR 6 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tempered Coral Pukei-Pukei
• Players will unlock the Waterproof Mantle+ after completion.

Fireproof Mantle+

“Festival of Explosions”

• MR 3 ★ located in Elder Recess
• Players must be MR 11 or higher
• Player must hunt a Brachydios and a Uragaan.
• Players will unlock the Fireproof Mantle+ after completion.

Glider Mantle+

“Red and Black Aces”

• MR 3 ★ located in Ancient Forest
• Players must be MR 11 or higher
• Player must hunt a Rathalos and a Nargacuga.
• Players will unlock the Glider Mantle+ after completion.

Challenger Mantle+

“Runnin’, Rollin’, and Weepin‘”

• MR 3 ★ located in Rotten Vale
• Players must be MR 11 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tigrex and a Radobaan.
• Players will unlock the Challenger Mantle+ after completion.

Evasion Mantle+

“Proud White Knight‘”

• MR 3 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 12 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tempered Barioth.
• Players will unlock the Evasion Mantle+ after completion.

Bandit Mantle+

“A Nasty Flesh Wound‘”

• MR 3 ★ located in Rotten Vale
• Players must be MR 12 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tempered Odogaron.
• Players will unlock the Bandit Mantle+ after completion.

Thunderproof Mantle+

“Trap the Thunder Jaw”

• MR 4 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 14 or higher
• Player must hunt a Fulgar Anjanath
• Players will unlock the Thunderproof Mantle+ after completion.

Iceproof Mantle+

“Duet of Rime”

• MR 4 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 16 or higher
• Player must hunt a Shrieking Legiana and a Legiana.
• Players will unlock the Iceproof Mantle+ after completion.

Rocksteady Mantle+

“Piercing Black‘”

• MR 4 ★ located in Hoarfrost Reach
• Players must be MR 17 or higher
• Player must hunt a Tempered Black Diablos
• Players will unlock the Rocksteady Mantle+ after completion.

Dragonproof Mantle+

• Seliana Armory will give you a Delivery Bounty

Immunity Mantle+

“It’s the Afterlife for Me”

• MR 5 ★ located in Rotten Vale
• Players must be MR 19 or higher
• Player must hunt a Blackveil Vaal Hazak
• Players will unlock the Immunity Mantle+ after completion.

Apothecary Mantle+

“The Tyrant’s Banquet”

• MR 5 ★ located in Rotten Vale
• Players must be MR 21 or higher
• Player must hunt a Savage Deviljho.
• Players will unlock the Apothecary Mantle+ after completion.

Post Story

Impact Mantle+

“Hymn of Moon and Sun”

• MR 6 ★ located in Elder Recess
• Players must be MR 125 or higher.
  • This quest becomes available when players are MR 125
• Player must hunt a Gold Rathian and a Silver Rathalos.
• Players will unlock the Impact Mantle+ after completion.

Temporal Mantle+

“Divine Surge”

• MR 6 ★ located in Coral Highlands
• Players must be MR 150 or higher.
  • This quest becomes available when players are MR 150
• Player must hunt a Tempered Kirin and a Tempered Namielle.
• Players will unlock the Temporal Mantle+ after completion.

Affinity Booster+

“The Storm Brings the Unexpected”

• MR 6 ★ located in Ancient Forest
• Players must be MR 175 or higher.
  • This quest becomes available when players are MR 175
• Player must hunt a Tempered Kushala Daora and a Tempered Blackveil Vaal Hazak.
• Players will unlock the Affinity Booster+ after completion.
