Monster Hunter Wilds Open Beta Is One Of The Most-Played Games on Steam

The open beta of Monster Hunter Wilds has quickly become the installment in the franchise with the most concurrent users on Valve’s platform.

Monster Hunter Wilds Smashes Records With Its Beta

Though the release of Monster Hunter Wilds, the latest installment in Capcom’s hunting saga, is still a few months away, we already know itโ€™s a resounding success. The Capcom title will launch on February 28, 2025, for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. However, Nintendo Switch players will miss out on the game (though it may arrive on its successor).

For a few days now, PS Plus subscribers have been able to try out the Monster Hunter Wilds beta on PS5, getting an early release compared to PC and Xbox users, as has been the case with Resident Evil demos.

Nonetheless, the Monster Hunter Wilds open beta is now available on Steam, and it has achieved tremendous success within just a few hours.

With only a beta release, we can say that Monster Hunter Wilds is already the franchise’s game with the highest number of concurrent users on Steam. Just imagine the impact it will have when the final version is released.

First of all, we recommend checking out impressions of the PS5 beta (by our colleague David Rodrรญguez), as well as the tips and secrets hidden in this test version.

Over 463,000 Concurrent Users

If we look at SteamDB, the unofficial database of Valve’s platform, we can see that Monster Hunter Wilds has already made franchise history for Capcom, only needing its open beta to achieve it.

In less than 24 hours (the beta launched on Halloween night), it reached a total peak of 463,798 concurrent users on Steam, and currently, more than 420,000 people are playing. Itโ€™s a spectacular number, surpassing any Monster Hunter release in recent years. Undoubtedly, the final version will achieve even better results, which would be historic.

With over 463,000 concurrent users, the Monster Hunter Wilds beta far exceeds previous titles in the series, such as Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter World.

Monster Hunter Rise reached a maximum peak of 231,360 concurrent users, while Monster Hunter World managed to reach 334,684 concurrent players.

As for Capcomโ€™s franchise itself, this is the companyโ€™s best-selling series in history (even surpassing Resident Evil). However, 94% of its total sales have been in digital format.

Monster Hunter Wilds is Capcom’s next big hit, launching on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on February 28, 2025.
