Capcom have announced Monster Hunter Rise will be gaining the elder dragon Velkhana with the next free title update.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Gets Icy Velkhana in Free Title Update 4
The free Title Update 4 for Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak will be coming on Tuesday 7th February. In this update hunters with Master Rank 10 or above can venture into the lair of one of the iconic Elder Dragons from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, Velkhana. In Iceborne this frosty monster uses to ice element to cause the ailment Iceblight. Players would need to look out for the beast’s sudden icy breath, manifesting spires of ice out of thin air.
Along with Velkhana comes the Risen Crimson Glow Valstrax variant. This elder dragon has found a way to overcome their affliction by suppressing the Quris virus. By doing so it has gained all new strengths and abilities. They are now much faster and far more devasting.

Both versions come with gear and skills. Velkhana can be seen wreaking havoc in the latest trailer.
Title Update 4 also comes with expanded Anomaly Research Quests, adding the afflicted Chaotic Gore Magala in A8★ quests, adding Risen elder dragons from level 111 upward and pushing the anomaly investigation level cap to 220. New weekly challenges include a Dual Threat quest to challenge Seething Bazelguese and Chaotic Gore Magala. These will reward Hunters with some fashionable items such as earmuffs and new paid DLC. The DLC features characters from Capcom’s The Hunting Guide tutorial series, which includes Lance Gunn, Ran Page, Pup R and Kit T. An array of new outfits, gestures, poses, hairstyles, makeup, music, voices and stickers are available.
Monster Hunter Rise in 2023
In case you missed it, Monster Hunter Rise came to new platforms just last month. Both Playstation, Xbox and Xbox Game Pass players now can hunt down formidable monsters in the action game. These platforms currently don’t have the Sunbreak expansion but will be receiving it in spring. The title launched with Version 10.
Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak’s Title Update 4 releases on February 7th for PC and Switch. Currently, the expansion isn’t available on recent platform additions Playstation and Xbox. Another Title Update is expected to launch in April adding further elder dragons and powered-up monsters.
