Lost Ark is due for its monthly update, this time dropping a bit earlier than last. The new patch will arrive on June 20, 2022.

Lost Ark Monthly Update Confirmed to Release on July 20, 2022

It has been less than 2 weeks since the June Content Update, but Lost Ark is now teasing its next chapter. This time it looks like summer will come in full swing!

While Korea’s Summer is getting the new Aeromancer Advanced Class, a new Guardian Raid, and an enhanced Tripod system, we in the west will have something more… arcane.

Arcane Explosion

The highlight of Lost Ark’s July Content Update is definitely the Arcanist. She will be joining the Bard and the Sorceress as the Mage’s 3rd Advanced Class. If you’ve ever wanted to experience what it feels like to be X-Men’s Gambit, then this is the role for you!

Arcanists are very unique in the sense that their weapon of choice is a special deck of Tarot Cards. These arcane warriors then imbue their cards with special effects that can decimate foes, bolster allies or buff themselves. The Arcanist will have a card for every occasion in combat, as long as the user can deal with the randomness and luck of the draw.

Her abilities are categorized into three different types, specifically Normal, Stacking and Ruin. While there is nothing special about the Normal skills, Stacking and Ruin are more interesting. Hitting enemies with a Stacking skill builds up a Card Stack Counter on foes. When the counter reaches 4, the target is then ripe to be hit with a Ruin skill. Ruin will deal large amounts of damage, depending on how many Card Stacks were placed on the enemy.

The Arcanist’s Class Identity

This class makes special use of her Tarot Card deck, in conjunction with the Normal, Stacking and Ruin skills. Whenever an Arcanist hits their target, they build up their class identity meter. When the meter is full, she draws a card at random from the deck. Each card has its own unique effect and making the most of the randomness will be key to a successful Arcanist.

Ordinarily, Arcanists will be able to draw one of 12 tarot cards from the deck. However if a player chooses the “Order of the Emperor” class engraving, they will have access to a 13th card.

Some of the more interesting cards and effects are as follows:

Arcane Skills and Engravings

As with other classes, the Arcanist will have two distinct Class Engravings which will drastically change the way the character is played.

The first is the “Order of the Emperor”, which was mentioned earlier. This engraving makes it so that the Arcanist’s identity gauge fills up much quicker, normal skills do more damage, and an Emperor Card is added to the possible card pool. This card simply deals damage to enemies in a radius around the caster.

Next is the “Empress’ Grace” engraving. Arcanists who choose this will have 4-Stacked Ruin skills to deal more damage and recover some of the MP used to cast them.

Arcanists will have access to many flashy, card-themed skills. They are quite mobile for a mage class, and this is especially fitting due to them being able to deal more damage up close. Some notable skills are Dark Ressurection, Return, and Four of a Kind.

Dark Ressurection throws a special card that summons demonic energy at a location. Talk about summoning the heart of the cards. Four of a Kind is a basic up-close damage nuke. Return is one of the Arcanist’s Counterattack abilities, and deals damage twice.

Catching Up on Lost Ark

Also arriving in the July Content Update are two mechanics that will help budding Arcanists get up to speed with the rest of the community. The team will be giving a Punika Powerpass and an additional Express Event.

The Punika Powerpass will instantly level any character to item level 1302 and complete the storyline up to the end of Punika. The only caveat here is that to use the Powerpass, an account should have a character that already finished the Punika storyline.

Express Event works a bit differently, but a version was already introduced back in the release of the Glaivier. This system will enable a chosen character to receive quests that will grant a large number of honing materials so they can gear up much quicker than normal.

Lost Ark’s Summer Activities

While not as meaty as the June Content Update, July will still introduce a couple of new activities that Heroes of Arkesia can participate in.

First is the Valtan Inferno Difficulty mode, which ramps up the challenge of the first legion commander raid. This encounter will be exponentially more difficult than the Normal and Hard mode raids, but will offer ramped up rewards as well.

Next, we get the Waterpop Arena which is a pool-themed PVP experience. Finally, we get to have some summer sun that isn’t constricted to the Punika isles. Players will need to be kings of the hill (or the pool) and knock away enemy players with a water gun.

Lastly, some people on the official forums and Reddit have speculated that new summer-themed outfits are coming in July, based on the image of the Waterpop Arena. Indeed, Community Manager Roxx confirmed that a specific set of swimwear is coming this July!
